Seems like this place used to be a restaurant that was later redecorated into a hotel, or at least there was an attempt to do so. First something important: this hotel can be found on several online booking sites but bear in mind that the staff DO NOT keep track of any reservation made through said sites. Be careful if you are arriving late at night or early in the morning after taking the sleep-train. 

We had booked a room for 3 people, but as I mentioned above the lady at the counter had no idea about our reservation and a small argument ensued before she very reluctantly agreed to give us a room. Unlike every other place I've stayed in China, she did not asked for our passports nor registered us, which makes me wonder whether she (or we) would be in trouble if we're found staying at this hotel. 

The room itself is not bad, and it's definitely not among the worst places in which I stayed (I've literally had cockroaches ran over my body while sleeping in the Philippines) but has a very weird vibe to it. We had no window, there were boxes with unknown contents under the bed, a computer equipped with a headset and a webcam... you get the idea. The shower pressure was awesome though, so there's that.

I definitely don't think the room is worth what we paid for it, even during the Ice Festival months, and better places closer to center can be easily found. Wouldn't recommend.

Strange "hotel" located very far from everything

This is probably the weirdest hostel I've ever been. You'll be greeted by an angry and rude lady laying on a rickety old bed right behind the counter. You probably had an online reservation but do not even think of telling her. She is not tracking those booking pages where her "hostel" is posted. Once you get to your dark, smelly, and windowless room, you'll find out how dirty is everything here. If you dare to stay overnight, you'll probably experience the worst nightmare ever. If you can't get to sleep, you could always surf on Internet with the strange fully equipped desktop located inside the room. For your comfort, you may want to turn around the webcam that is pointing at your bed. Next day, your check out day if you've been brave enough, the lady will start "cleaning" your room while you are showering. It just feels a little threatening see her face when you get off the shower naked. To sum up, I'd never recommend  going to this hostel unless it is freezing outside (it was about -18) and you don't have any other place to stay. Heating and wifi was working fine.

Disgusting hostel run by odd staff

I arrived in a dirty room (stains on bedsheets, old chewing gum and hairs on the floor), with no window. Toilets were more than dirty and there was no shower. I was offered a sink to wash myself. When I decided to leave, and only then, I was offered a "rather" clean bedroom with private bathroom, but too late. Avoid it, there are better places in Harbin, definitely!
