You Le Mei Apartment

Youlemei probably offers the best for the price in Chongqing. Although you're not in the centre of the city, you are in a nice area with food and bars.

The "hotel" front desk is rather difficult to find but it's worth the effort as you get a studio flat room in a high tower with a good view and also get nice aparthotel amenities like washing machines etc.

The apartments (Business Deluxe, cheapest one) are quite spacious, well equipped (big TV, couch, cooking place, big bed, fridge, some even have a washing machine) and very clean. The bathroom is big enough, the shower is supposed to be warm for one shower – then you have to wait for around 30 minutes for heating up water for the next person.

The location is rather “off track”, but still very good: supermarkets, a big mall and the subway are nearby (Line 1 is 5-10 minutes away), and I’ve seen at least one bar in the next building. Talking about the building: As always in China, things can be a little different than anywhere else. Obliviously the building holds not only a hotel, but also several “Mansions” or apartment-places. Do not let the pictures fool you, the shopping mall you see there, is around the corner. So, for starters, the entrance is not easy to find. Second, the front desk is also not easy to be found: It is located on the 14th floor.

In 02/2015 the rooms were available on the internet (ctrip, etc.) for around 270 RMB. If you become a member of Youlemei, you can get it for around 230 RMB, so a very reasonable price for the value you get.

Not everything is perfect (some lights do not work, TV shows you a huge library on movies which you cannot chose since the management did not subscribe to it, the aircon can be quite loud..) but overall it is a great deal. Close by to subway and supermarkets, clean, welcoming and friendly staff – for a very reasonable price. Four points!
