Looking at the previous reviews, I must warn future travelers: sunny does not seem to exist anymore, if she is not male now, called ken and does not speak English very well. It is an apartment in a secure gated community, and the location is fine, but not great. After standing in front of the door for maybe 2 minutes the owners sister opened the door, no English, and obviously very confused about the guests.. She seems to live there with another friend. The rooms are tiny, not clean, and I've never slept on such a hard bed! Even camping is more comfortable! 
In addition, the bathroom was just filthy, the AC did not work properly, and the walls are really thin, so you hear everything. One of the weirdest places I have ever stayed at, and I would not recommend it!

A bed with no mattress is not a bed

We were on a Chinese trip to Chongqing and had the pleasure of spending a night at the Red Chili Guest House. The room was decent-sized, clean, air conditioned, and the bed was very comfortable. For a small fee, we were also able to use the washing machine, which was very pleasant. The landlord Sunny was extremely helpful. She helped us both book a Yangtze cruise and order buses and train tickets online. Her commitment is particularly highlighted here. All in all, a great accommodation with good price/performance ratio. We would definitely book again and can only recommend the accommodation.

It's great accommodation.

Really nice hostel. Appreciated the help of Sunny for helping me organizing my trip to wulong. This took her around 2 hours, a service which ai never experienced in any other hostel with way more staff. The hostel is located in a private apartment within a 24 hour secured compound. Rooms and washing facilities are clean. Everything is new. Totally recommend to stay in the Red Chilis in chongqing for a couple of days. Also Sunny is always there to share her experiences and storys as she travelled. 

Secure, helpfull and cozy

A nice place that really has the potential to become great when its more established. The owner is really helpfull with all kinds of request, and combined with acces to the kitchen, it gives the place a feeling of home. 
A little more effort made on the cleaning would be great though. 
Note that the beds are chineese and that the door to the room can't be locked.

An apartment run as a good hostel

I found all the needs here as required staff was good and coprative room were good and clean I have foud the management welcoming and alwas ready to help the cisitor h can find quality and good food around  and near by this place 

It was a nice place to stay

Our stay in Red Chilli was a real joy.  It was home away from home with well-travelled hostess who anticipated our various needs.  She is a local resident and an excellent English speaker.  The first-hand information was always provided in patience and consideration.  The place is very handy to the central city, very tidy and comfortable. We would have stayed longer if we had not had other obligations. Chongqing is an amazing city.  The spicy food was a definite have-to-try. Fantastic Memories!
