I missed my flight and the airline took several of the passengers to the Celebrity Hotel.  I wasn't expecting much because airlines don't like to spend money.  I was very surprised by everything. The inside was, architecturally  speaking very elegant, with a 1920's flare. I was probably the only western they had, had in the hotel in several years due to Covid.  But, everyone was eager to help and try out their english speaking skills which I found 
 very heartwarming. I don't like to compare but, while in China I found the staff and manager on duty to be the most friendly, and helpful from all the others.  I would definitely give the Celebrity City Hotel my business again and would encourage others to at least walk in and look around.  Oh, I almost forget one of the most important things of my stay, and that was the food.  Words can not describe the flavors and selections they offered.  If you like spicy Asian culinary delights, you will love the food. I would go out of my way to stay again! 

I travel the world and the Celebrity City Hotel is a must see, must stay

Nice location but not a hotel of you don’t speak the language.  They try to use translation apps but it’s clear the Managment does not invest in training their staff.

The lobby bar only service local beer, bottle only of wine,  whiskey and non alcoholic drinks. 

The gym is run by a subcontracting firm and dose not open until 10 am, simply not acceptable for a hotel..

Rooms are basic but nice.  Tv only has one english language station and a few French  channels 



Nice location 

Very impressive of its exuberance to present service level at the first place when lobby assistance guiding me to use the check-in machine and showing me the room on 13rd floor(I have to say, not usual in China) with a small gift (key ring).
The room was quite clean and spacious, with al most all stuffs avialble (TV,hot water,mini bar etc.) Both shower and bathtub were set in bathroom.
One more thing I should mention is the delivery robot,since this hotel allows take-away service from outside, I ordered some food and it was very convenience to recieve my stuff from the robot, You know actually it would be a little bit embarrassing facing a real person at the same occasion.And it looked quite cute!

Impressive

This is an excellent hotel in chengdu city, which provides good facilities worthwhile of the money spent. Furthermore, the hotel is located right in the city center where shopping and feasting is convenient and also easy-access to public transports. Tribute    
Is to be given to the helpful front-desk staff, especially m/s Luwei Qiu,the Guest Relation Officer, who is patient to attend to the customers' needs.

A recommended hotel in Chengdu City

The room was nice, and the staff was delightful, They hardly speak English, which is odd for a 5 star hotel. In fact, when I arrived, I could feel a sense of panic when they saw a tall white guy and I heard the person at the check-in ask her colleague ("how's you're English?"). Good thing I knew basic Chinese! Apart from that I have to say that everyone in the staff was very very nice.

The bad: The breakfast is disappointing, and the restaurant is less than appealing.
The good: The location. Right by the metro and lots of shops and restaurants.

Not what I expected

This is supposed to be a five star hotel in China. By western standards it is really a 3 to 4 max. star. At check in there were at least five receptionists and none of them could acknowledge us. They all just continue to work on whatever and ignore the people checking in. Supposedly a sales person floats around the front desk but can't seem to get the job done either.We were told there was no hotel manager on duty by this young lady either.  It took almost an hour to get checked in and finally into a decent room. We requested a non smoking room and when we finally received our room key and walked into the room we realize we are in a smoking room. We called down to the front desk, they send a bellman named Steven who happened to speak perfect english. Steven is sent with a key to another room only to find out the the non smoking room was also used as a smoking room. The third room worked. In my opinion, Steven should be working the front desk since he is able to speak english which should be a requirement for a 5 star hotel. People who stay at this hotel leave their room doors wide open with loud TV on. Breakfast is very poor. Not much selection. Children run all over the restaurant unsupervised. Asked for a latte and told that was an extra charge. Very hard to get a regular cup of coffee as well. Must not have this on hand which is unusual for a large city hotel. If you are looking for a quiet place this is not the place. WonTon is pretty week at this hotel restaurant as well. Beds are fair. Baths are good. Not many places to go to from this hotel.
