Hotel del Montañes

After driving through the mountains from Argentina a few friends and I arrived in Pucón at night without any accommodation arrangements. We parked our rental car on the main street in the downtown area. Hostal el Montañes was the first place we checked out and it was perfect. After driving for many hours I would have accepted pretty much anything but this place was really comfy. The room had an overall light-wood ski chalet type of feeling with high ceilings. There was an effective space heater that kept us all toasty all night. The three separate beds (2 double 1 twin) (with very comfortable new looking mattresses - I actually had my best night of sleep here during my entire journey) really made it great. Reliable hot water in the morning was an added plus. The room was on the second floor (of a building detached from the hotel reception and restaurant) overlooking the street. We visited most if not all (there's just a few) of the bars on the main drag (in easy walking distance) so street noise in the room wasn't an issue for us, but it definitely could be for the early to bed. In this case I'd ask for a quiter room facing the back. We showed at at 10pm and rang the bell outside reception and it was answered quickly by a very friendly woman. We paid about $20 a person for 3 people. We probably could have gotten a better deal but were quite exhausted and happy to have found a good place. If you're looking for a quick overnight or a place to base yourself while taking some of the wonderful treks Pucón has to offer this is a great choice. It's clean, comfy and safe. (there was even secure parking but we just parked on the street). We actually had an awesome view of the volcano from our window that surprised us the next morning (having arrived there at night).
