B&B La Lobería

Had the chance to stay here in February. While the location is remote, the property itself is amazing. More so, the owner, Sylvia, was an amazing host. From her cooking, to her guided tour made the experience more than I could've ever hoped for.

Our room was enormous with cotton sheets with lace edges. The bathroom is not modern but clean and functional. A tip the hot water takes a long time to come through - just let the shower keep running.
Breakfast is plentiful and very good. Masses of fruit ,fruit juice bread and eggs.

This was the kind of hotel we needed after a trip in Chile that had wonderful geography and people but a lack of character in the accommodation. So we were delighted to walk in and see the leafy internal courtyard,wall paintings and signs of music and culture strewn around. The owner and her friend were very friendly taking a great interest in us and making me practise my dreadful Spanish. The room was large with a veiled canopy over the bed and interesting old furniture and the bathroom was also large. I think it was pretty comfortable and more to the point safe and unique and centrally located. Breakfast was of a high standard with cooked eggs (adorned with a nasturtium) and fruit and freshly squeezed juice-most Chilean breakfasts are dreary with leaden bread  and jam and no fruit,so full marks for that. It was a bit awkward when we left as what with exchange rates and the dreaded 19 % IVA,  tax which if they did the paperwork hotels need not charge, it came to more than we expected but we did sort it out.  So thank you to them for a much needed accommodation uplift and we also enjoyed La Esquina Restaurant which they recommended and the nearby more traditional place. Try a papaya Sour.

A warm experience in an old casona with interior patio and beautiful garden.  The Chilean/American owner began renovating the casona in 2004 with unusual yet interesting finishes, like the Kwanzaa menorah.  The American breakfast with real coffee won me over.  Cobquecura was an important port during the 19th century sending wheat and other products to the California gold rush.  Now its a small town with a long beach and nearby caletas:  a quiet and scenic escape from resort towns about two hours from Concepcion by car.

I do net get why this place get good reviews

The place is old and in dire need of maintenance.  The cleanliness of the room is doubtful, hot water was barey available and the room was freezing at night.   Furniture in public area was falling apart.

Right , there is a nice garden and a 'museiish' feel to the place and a friendly dog and cat, but thats about it.

Just checking in was troublesome as you had to call to a phone number to get the door answered.

The staff person was doing her best to be a good host.  Breakfast was better than average for this type of hotel.

Location in the city was adequate.  Easy to park your car.
