A lovely place away from the hustle and bustle of the town. A huge resort with access to a beautiful beach. Taxis available to take you to any part of the island for a small charge; free shuttle bus to take you into town.

We are a party of six and we have normally problems with space when we book an apartment, but not in Villa Verde. We had three big closets and various other options to put things away. The kitchen was very good an relatively new and with a big refrigerator and freezer. An unexpected addition was the washing machine. The balcony was also spacious but had only 4 chairs. The bed of the sleeping sofa was broken. The little on-site supermarket had all the basics you need. The staff where very friendly and the security was very present. The complex is kept very clean. The pizzas, however, where expensive and not good. The breakfast was at the pool bar and it was great.

Large and clean rooms, we had 2 large balcony's... one in the shade and one in the sun all day. Everything we needed was there for self catering, great little shop a few minutes walk away - limited stock but enough available.- enjoyed the rolls for breakfast and lunch ! Santa Maria was around 20 minutes to walk. Botanic gardens around a 10 minute walk, beaches around a 10 minute walk also. No traffic inside Villa Verde so very peaceful.

Traveled to this bueatiful island for a week travelling as a solo female.
What a lovely place & brillant time I have had just to relax.
The hotel room was spotless.
 I went self catering & the studio was spaceious.
Every time I put the t.v on there was a film on. 
There is a few decent English channels.
My balcony had the sun on it all day.
And the WiFi reached my room as it’s connected to the pool area.
The staff was all lovely & friendly from the reception guys to the cleaners etc.
The supermarket didn’t really have much to write home about.
But after going on a tour around the island ( which I would fully recommend) 
the tour guide explained that 95% of the produce is imported you can see why! 
The only down fall I had with this complex was the bus shuttle!
There is a complementary bus shuttle laid on for hotel guests.
It is also always full & I ended up getting a cab most times.
It’s not the hotels fault.
It’s the RUDE and obnoxious hotel guests!
I have never EVER seen such bad manners in all my life.
Regardless if you have been sitting there for half an hour!
That all goes out the window & so does any type of decent manners!

Apart from that there is security everywhere Day & night.
And I would fully recommend going to watch the sunset at ponta preta.
You can get the bus shuttle there if there’s room lol!
And remember your card they give you at reception.
Some of the bus men as some don’t.
Apart from that it’s a bueatiful place to relax & unwind 😊

I went here with a friend for self catering holiday end of Feb beginning of March 2020.  We had a spacious flat with large balcony overlooking one of the many pools at the conplex.  Flat screen TV with english movies and news available.  The free Wi-fi reached our balcony and worked very well. Air conditioning, use of room safe at no extra charge.  Staff were very friendly and efficient.  The complex is massive and was not that full when we visited, meaning it was nearly like having your own private pool just downstairs,    Free shuttle bus to Santa Maria or beaches or atlernatively a taxi was only 300 pesos or 3 Eur.  We mainly used a supermarket in Santa Maria near the Police Station as there was a lot more choice than the local supermarket.  The restaurant on site very cheap and food was nice and also available to be brought to your flat if you wish.  The beaches on the Island are spectacular and very unspoilt and absolutely beautiful and the people there also.  Cape Verde no stress, which is the Islands motto is absolutely true and I ,for one, will definetely visit again sooner or later

We stayed 2 weeks and thought everything was very good. 

The location of the hotel was good. A short trip in to town, either by 3 euro taxi, hotel bus for free or a walk.

Large space of rooms in good condition and great cleaning every day. Lots of supplies in the kitchen if you wanted to cook, looked all brand new.

Pool area is nice, all though the sunbeds are a bit worn out. Pool bar was good, served great lunch menu and even served food by the sunbeds.

Great that we could buy fresh bread in the morning at the marked. Cheese, ham, chips, coffee, large water cans, some fruits, beer and soft drinks can be bought there as well. Open everyday besides sunday.

Two restaurants in sight, but we only ate there one evening. We really loved the town of Santa Maria, and took a taxi or the free hotel bus each night for dinner and drinks.

Also its is a good location for trips. One day we walked to Kite beach. About 30min walk through the desert. Tip: Bring sunglasses and a thin wind jacket with a hoodie. Another day we walked to Ponto Preta Beach, also a 30min walk through the 5-star hotel areas.

We're happy with our stay all though we had read many reviews in advance that left us a bit hesitant. Specially about the location of the hotel and the fact that many people stated it to be like a ghost town. We found it to be a hotel with good size room in good condition with pleasant furniture and great cleanliness. We agree that there are a large space here that are not beeing used, and therefore it is quiet and remote. But, it is what you make of it and it's only a short trip into town.

Everyone we came in contact with as personel at the property, was nice and friendly - with no stress, like rest of the people in Cape Verde.

Over all, we think it is a good value for money and would absolutely stay here again! 

Nice big rooms,good wifi,average cleaning(lacked something here and there),shower was horrible and please start spraying the property for ants because they are everywhere and we had a apertment in the third floor

Villa Verde is more like a village in its own right, with restaurants, bars, supermarket and bakery. On arrival reception staff very friendly and welcoming, Shown to my room on second floor. it was more like a one bedroom apartment with full air con. Balcony over looking one of several pools in complex. Villa Verde is about two kilometres walk from Santa Maria, or you can catch the regular free bus service. The restaurant I frequented on site buffet service with a wide selection of dishes to choose from and very good. Likewise breakfast in the club bar provided a good choice. The staff at Villa Verde were always very friendly and polite and nothing to much trouble. in general I found the islanders very sociable. Being a small island not a great deal to see on the island, the island tour is well worth the trip. Plenty of water activities. Temperatures great nearly always a wind and can get chilly in the evenings. I enjoyed my time there and hope to return

Good hotel but with some drawbacks

If we were to pay, say £500 less, and they called it a 3-Star Hotel it would have met my partner's and my expectations. It is definitely not a 4-Star, and it is overpriced:

Customer Service - best we had was a pleasant welcome and helpful lady on reception. The staff around the pool bar, breakfast/dinner areas do not seem bothered at all with being there or creating positive guest experience. We had better customer service across different bars, restaurants and locations on our trip, so we don't believe it was a cultural difference, just poor customer service.

Food - If you're happy with "school dinner" quality and a lack of choice, you'll be ok. We're glad we weren't all-inclusive. Eating out was definitely the right choice here.

Hotel / Room - incredibly basic. Uncomfortable beds, door handles missing, sink plug not connected and getting stuck. Feels like a poor construction job. Oh and we were lucky enough to have a chronic smoker next door stinking out the whole floor. 🙄

We had a fantastic time in Cape Verde, unfortunately this hotel did not add to the experience at all. An honest review we hope gets listened too and to advise others.

I feel very safe as there is security staff in the complex

Since the day i checked in the main pool is empty

Next to the appartment is a desalination fabric

-Constant noise from the engines and bad smoke from the diesel engines 24 hours a day
