Booked a superior room really not worth it. Poor furnishings very basic. Regretted booking. Would not go back again. Area is quite Barron and does not feel particularly safe in the evenings. Day trip on a boat would be fine. Not worth staying

Has Art 

(I am updating the review I wrote in January 2022; we stayed there again in Jan 2023 and certain things have improved.) The hotel has free internet, but that is mainly in reception - most rooms do not have it. However, room 301 (larger than most others, and more expensive) had good wifi - maybe because it is quite near reception.  Also, the air conditioning in this bedroom (and maybe others?) has been improved - quieter and more adjustable than previously.  There is a pool but no gym/fitness room.  We were traveling with a baby and needed various cups washed and sterilised, and the restaurant staff were very helpful and friendly - in fact all the staff are friendly. There is a new manager who seems to be very active in trying to improve things - he also speaks excellent English, unlike some of the staff.  (A previous review suggested that the hotel was under-managed - I think that has changed now!)

Friendly staff, but most rooms do not have wifi.

The hotel says it as free internet, but that is only in reception.  No wifi in bedrooms.  I spent a week on this island (in winter/dry season) and got bitten by mosquitos in only one place - reception of this hotel. And I was only sitting in reception because there is no wifi in the bedrooms.  They really REALLY need to change this.  (And before you reply that this is Africa, and so I shouldn't expect European standards, I paid over 65 euros a night, which is more than some hotels in the UK...). On the positive side, we were traveling with a baby and needed various cups washed and sterilised, and the restaurant staff were very helpful and friendly.  Air conditioning in rooms only has one temperature (21 degrees) and one noise level (quite loud).

No wifi in bedrooms - but helpful staff

Room was ok, bit old fashioned. Plenty of room. Safe is small, not big enough for ipad/laptop.
Small balcony but did not use. Fridge worked fine. Aircon took Some time to get cool. Pool area plenty of room, hard wooden sunbeds. Hotel a bit outside the town, few restaurants close by. Elevator is still broken. Breakfast ok. Staff is a bit shy and slow.
Overall for a few days when exploring the beautifull Island of Santa Antao an ok stay.

Could use updating

Retreat, relax and enjoy great cuisine. This all inclusive resort is very reasonable. With outdoor swimming pool and spa, modern architecture and lots of privacy. The chef will treat you to a delicious and surprise meal every day.

Very nice

Wonderful hotel – spacious rooms; mini safe; fridge; king or twin beds; huge foyer; large bar; large beautifully laid out dining room; magnificent pool, free wifi (ostensibly only in foyer but worked in our room).  Amazingly, at the height of the tourist season, very few guests which, apart from being very sad, may account for the fact that it seems to be run on a shoe-string.  

The reception staff seemed very young and inexperienced and their English, though much better than my Portuguese, was poor enough to complicate discussion.  
Room lighting – as seems to be the case with so many new hotels – is inadequate.  Barely able to read in the room after dark; lighting on the small balcony is insufficient for comfortable reading and there is no light on, or above, the desk.  When I requested a table lamp to enable me to do some work, all that the poor girl at the desk was able to come up with was a torch!  

There was no ‘management’ that I could speak to, she was hung out to dry.  Why is lighting such a poorly designed aspect of so many new hotels? 

Notice saying, basically, “Dear guests do not drink the water from the taps” – but there is no complimentary water in the room, you have to buy it at the bar, leaving a nasty taste of profiteering.

Wonderful hotel - few guests?

Room was clean, though the shower needed some repairs. Staff doesn't speak (that well) English, which made it sometimes difficult, e.g. for ordering a drink. Though by using Google Translate, I was able to order a cake for my husbands birthday! Diner was okay, breakfast was not that well.

Moderate hotel

The rooms are modest but comfortable and the swiming pool is big and pleasent. However there is a lack of chairs to rest on.
Be careful on Sundays as the food is not very diversified at the bar/ restaurant.
Breakfast is diverse and nice fresh fruit every day.

Close to the dive center and near the sea

We are a group of 15 people wanting to visit the hotels swimming pool. When we arrived the pool was in maintenance so we were asked to call the next day to know more. So I did. The next day it was still in maintenance. 

The day after that they finished maintenance  and they were filling the pool and the receprionist told me that tomorrow it would be open. So the next day I called cause I didn't trust it would actually be open and the pool was still being filled. I asked when it would be done as it was being filled for 2 days already but Candia couldn't tell me when. 

I've been calling for 4 days and no receptionist is able to tell me when this pool is would be ready. Seems like they're filling the pool with buckets. The receptionist were extraordinary rude very "cold" on the phone and didn't even try to assist me. The pool might be nice, the hotel too. But your services have a long way to go. Especially for paying guests.
