I need to mention that Elias had helped us to be able to see more than 45 children in the school in Cha for our dental assessment project. The teachers from other islands are sent to this little school in Cha by the government and they live for 8 months in Casa Monte Amarello. The two days we spent there, were simply magical. There is no other way to describe it. Every child and their parents and everyone else came to know us. A little child came one day and said, "I want caramel" in Portuguese. He is too young to have permanent molars and hence did not get any Fluoride Varnish but he wanted and he let us know it. The bus driver Sebastian's wife brought their two year old son for us to evaluate. Anywhere we walked, we were two known people by everybody it seemed. Breakfast was Fogo coffee with FRESH goat milk, homemade goat milk cheese, home made fruit jam and home made bread. Time to weep thinking of the two magical days we spent here, in the shadow on Fogo volcano and other unknown ones. The yellow mountain was protecting us for two days. There are many more fancy places to stay in Cha but this modest home gives you a real flavor of local life in this inhospitable yet beautiful surrounding.
