Had a fabulous holiday. The food, friendly staff in all job roles, cleanliness, animation team, cleaners, champagne and restaurant booking for birthday. In our room the cleaner decorated the bed every day. We had optics in our room and the fridge was well stocked. Easy to order drinks on the app.

Sunshine and paradise

This hotel really is lovely - as relaxing or exciting as you want it to be and in the most beautiful of locations. The best bits - RIU party on the Friday night, aquafit and the Caribbean blue cocktail!

Excellent holiday

From the sandy white beach next to the hotel and the crystal blue ocean, through to the friendly staff and ample amenities, this was a great holiday. Staff were all great, entertainment in the hotel was well produced if not really to my taste. Each room has it's own mini bar fridge and a set of 4 optics with local rum, gin, vodka and whisky, all included; we were provided with large bottles of water, along with coke, fanta, sprite and tonic water to the room. 

There were plenty pf places to sunbathe or seek shade if that is your preference. You can get food any time you like, there is always somewhere open. The sports bar is air conditioned and open 24 hours with many TVs and a pool table and football table, and they have a fridge of cold snacks and burgers / hotdogs you can heat in the microwave. 

Rooms were always clean and restocked. The gym there is a great little gym and I was able to work out everything I wanted, even without weight plates and bars. They also have a steam room and plunge pool that were great post workout (shower before you go in obviously)

You're only a 10 euro ride away from the capital of Boa Vista, I recommend visiting the pier near Té Manché bar if you want a really local experience, and Sodade Casa da Cultura is a great visit if you want a place to eat and drink with oodles of character and history. Vendors are a little pushy, but I've had much worse in other places, and they were all very friendly and non threatening. But you will be told be everyone that you are their first customer of the day, and that they will give you the best price :) Our taxi driver told us to never pay more than half of what their first offer is.  

I'd go back in a heartbeat. It was so refreshing to have a hotel without children, it really helped us to relax and find some peace together as a couple. 

What a gem

Beautiful hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Great sized rooms, very varied and delicious food and brilliant enertainment. Plenty of sunbeds around the 5 pools, and also plenty of coffee stations where you can help yourself to coffee and sodas 24 hours a day. Daytime activities were very good. 
We will go back.

Fantastic hotel

We came home last week and both agree that this hotel was problem free. We booked a swim up room which was great for quiet afternoons. At first I was sceptical about the self service drinks system , but found it worked very well. We used the RIU app to check in and book restaurants, but when I had to speak to the lobby staff for queries that it could not resolve, they were really helpful and efficient. Our favourite restaurant was the Asian and found no problems with reservations. We were able to find pool/ beach beds every day. The only problem we had was at the airport as it appeared several flights were leaving and it took nearly 2 hours to get through, but this is hardly the hotels fault. I can’t believe some of the negative reviews from people who must have been there at the same time

Problem free

Resort is enormous.  Best guess would be 1000 rooms.  It was overwhelming because of the size for me.  This is purely personal.

Very helpful and happy staff. Clean, good selection of food. Only issue with the restaurants is that they are hard to get A booking, did however manage all three. The gourmet restaurant is a must, was so nice. No issues with sun beds no matter what time you arrive at the pools. Rooms are very clean. 

Fab Destination

Reading some reviews before we left we were a little skeptical...it was our honeymoon and the hotel made it extra special. Petals all over the bed and a bottle of bubbles on arrival. All around a stunning hotel from the second you will pull, visually more stunning than the sister hotel next door. Very bright and airey, check in was quick but pointless doing it online as it saves no time you still have to que. 
Rooms- ours was second floor and about a 5 mins walk from reception but stunning views and the air con is most defiantly welcome as you walk in. 
Drinks - an arrival drink would have been nice after a long flight and the temperatures but you were able to go to the bar and ask for one while queuing for check in. 
Drinks- menu is limited yes but they will make you anything you like. Expresso martini was my hubands fav but I saw people having sex on the beach, mojitots anything you wanted they would try! 
Food- amazing all fresh, fish was amazing. Only disappointment was having to wait up until midnight if you wanted to quarantee a table in one of the speciality restaurants because of this we only managed the Asian which was the worst meal we ate in my opinion. 
Entertainment- we had neon party and it was ok lots of dancing and as other hotels there too busy but still a good atmosphere. Other entertainment was ok some nights others not so much for us but plenty of other places to go and sit and have a drink. 
Swimming pools- 5 pools 2 of which are pool bars we spent most of our time here loved it, yes it was noisy and a little rowdy but everyone was on holiday having fun! There were some that got carried away but all in all very good!
Access to the water slides was a little bonus but they hurt alot! 
The sun is dangerous even when it's cloudy you will burn so wear factor 50! The beach is beautiful and few steps away from the pool but the sand gets really hot so beach shoes may help.
We did a quad bike experience and this was truly amazing! Defiantly worth it....the moto is no stress and that's exactly what this holiday was all about! Staff all friendly and happy and always walking around the pools in the days talking to people..all in all 100% recommend and would go back! 

Amazing worth it

We knew before we visited Karamboa that the island Boa Vista wasn’t somewhere where you could go out the hotel complex and find lots to do. The good news is that the hotel has plenty of options to keep you entertained. Whether it’s like ourselves, we wanted to totally chill out and sunbathe, read and listen to music while having a huge selection of food during breakfast, lunch and evening meal. I put on half a stone in 2 weeks! I’m not a drinker but I enjoyed their cocktails although there aren’t branded drinks which didn’t bother me personally. 
Temperatures always around 30 degrees but beware the wind factor which caught myself out and many others getting a bit of sunburn. Be liberal with the sun cream and go for a high factor to begin with.
A 5 minute transfer from the airport is a definite bonus after a 6 hour flight from Birmingham.
Special mention to all the staff at Karamboa who work tirelessly and always smiling.
We had a trip to Sal Rei by taxi (10-15 minutes) and got accosted by a young man who said he worked at Karamboa and would show us round and ended up at his ‘moms’ shop so felt obliged to buy something. We walked back along the beachfront which took about one hour which was nice.
The beds by the pools are more comfortable and shaded than the ones on the beach. Also the drinks are closer so we chose to stay by the pool bars most of the time, although the beach is great.
Overall a fantastic 2 weeks at the Karamboa!
