Basically a converted rooming house. No staff on-site. No air conditioning and the windows don't allow air circulation, so the room was always too hot, even though the outside weather was not too hot during the day and cooled down in the evening. The outside entrance stairs are broken down, have no guardrail on the open side and should be replaced.  The "garden area" is disgusting and seems to be used by vagrants - I didn't feel safe when coming or going from the building at night.  The shower (shared bathroom) is mouldy.  No curtains (just blinds) on the windows to keep out the street lights and the high-wattage motion-triggered lights on the outside of the building.  I had to hang a blanket over the bedroom window to shut out the outside lights. The bed had a pervasive odour of stale cigarette smoke.  The outside door does not lock automatically - it has to be locked manually.  This means that if one of the guests forgets to lock the door, anyone can get in (and there are vagrants in the area, so this could easily happen).

So bad that I paid for 3 nights but only stayed for 2.

I booked online to stay at this inn.  While I was traveling, they sent me a text message to more precisely determine the time of arrival than on the registration.  I didn't receive the message until much later - I may have been in an area without service.  I arrived at 10:00  p.m. and knocked on both the front and back door.
While going to the back door, I had to walk on cardboard laid on ice - it didn't seem very safe.  At the back door, I noticed that there was a plastic bag frozen into the steps - it didn't seem very safe, again.  

When I finally received the text, I texted back to say that I had booked another hotel, but I could stay there the next night so as not to lose what I had already paid.  To date (4 days later), I have not received any message from this hotel.
I would have appreciated some contact just to discuss what had happened and to possibly come to a mutually agreed upon solution.

Phoned many times over a two days period but no one answered and there was no answering machine/service. There is no sign on their door and no one answers when you knock, even though I paid for a room.

No answer!

I reserved this place, paid by credit card and there was no one to let me in. The neighbourhood was very sketchy and it felt very unsafe waiting for the owner to return and let me in my room. I spent a half-hour knocking and checking for entry and finally went to another hotel. My money has not been refunded and I am sure this was not the first time this person took payment and did not allow the patron into the hotel. Very disappointed and would NEVER recommend this place to anyone!

Paid for a room but never got in!

After staying in shared room for 6 months it was a delight to have such a nice rom with a double bed, cable tv for a little over $50 a night. I had a late bus on check out day and the owner let me use the room until late that evening for a small fee (something other establishments won't do) The location was good too.
