Jailhouse Bed & Breakfast

A little late for my review,  we stayed here one night on our way through to Jasper. This is a great little B&B. The  breakfast was absolutely fantastic and there was no shortage of good quality home-cooked food and coffee for breakfast. Close to a restaurant for dinner, just short stroll. I throughly recommend this place to anybody.

Marie was excellent as a host and guide recommending hot spots around town to hike and eat. The hostel was friendly, cozy, warm and clean and safe. Centrally located with parking spots, Marie provides keys to guests for them to come and go. The breakfast in the morning hit the spot with choice of meat, eggs, and drinks. Fresh fruit as well. Quick and easy check in and out. Would recommend again. Thanks, Marie!!!!!

The owner, Marie, is super friendly and cooks you a giant made-to-order breakfast. I had ham and eggs and toast and berries. Other couple had waffles and pancakes with lots of jams, maple syrup, etc. It's included in price of room. A bookcase has lots of free maps and brochures of whole province. Sleeping room was fine. NO AC, just a fan but in the cool/cold mountains, no AC is required. even in summer. Well stocked amentiites in bathroom with fancy soaps, shampoos, and body washes. TV in sleeping room had limited reception to 3 or 4 channels. Could watch many channels on big cable TV downstairs if I wanted to. You can get a great photo of yourself behind bars in the cell downstairs but the sleeping rooms are not cells. They are nice sleeping rooms upstairs with a shower, toilet etc. You don't actually sleep in a jail cell.

Everything was excellent! Marie the owner was a perfect chief and the breakfast was really fantastic. Our room was an old jail but with all the comforts. Bathroom was really clean and private. Excellent stay.

A very nice B&B for a stopover.  The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the breakfast tasty.
The freight trains passing in the night might bother lighter sleepers, but this is something that you have to expect along Highway 5 where the trains follow the North Thompson river and most settlements are also built along it.

Excellent Stay!

I loved this place. You can say you spent the night in a jailhouse and not lie.

Pitstop in Valemont

Excellent stay.... in a jail!

Although Marie is a delight we found the accommodations very disappointing. The room we had was upstairs and not too restful..tired and old. With no a/c we had the window open and the neighbors dog liked to bark plus there were numerous trains coming through blowing their whistle at all hours making a good nights sleep impossible. The walls are incredibly thin so we heard our neighbors conversations at all times.  With no night light in the bathroom if you have to use the facilities during the night there is one switch for both the light and a noisy fan. I chose this because of the ratings and am still scratching my head wondering how everyone could rate it so highly. Breakfast was wonderful though with anything you could desire and I can give that a four star. Yard was not kept up and all in all a tired, older B&B
