C&N Backpackers - Ucluelet

I have stayed here in the past and really enjoyed it. I love that its a relatively affordable hostel in an area filled with expensive stays. I had issues with Hwy 4 for my last trip and Andy (contact) was amazing and stayed in touch and assisted me with my booking changes the entire time - always getting back to me right away - Going above and beyond.

While we were staying at Surf Junction Campground a massive storm dropped volumes of water on us and we needed to find shelter. Luckily the C&N Backpackers Hostel had one family room available for just that one night! We came in, dried off, and had a civilized night in a massive storm. My teenagers hung out in the common room and chatted with friendly strangers, and in the morning the sun came out and so did we.

Best place ever - we where there for three nights and the last night we invited our kids out for dinner, they refused they wanted to stay at the hostel to have dinner. The hostel felt almost like home, we loved our stay, the service was great, and the location was awsome. We will come back, on day. We are tomorrow going in a 4 star hotel at Victoria and my kids said they would rather stay here for an extra night - so alle in all we chilled here, and had a great time

This is a spotlessly clean, modern, spacious, comfy hostel with views of the shore and deer who wander about nibbling the vegetation.
The staff are super helpful and friendly.
There's a lounge on the ground floor, and another downstairs with an attached and well appointed kitchen.
This hostel is located in a charming woodland location (with the views of the shore!) but it's just a 10 minute stroll into town; super easy access to the bus depot, restaurants, adventure tour companies and hiking trails.
The backyard is suitable for dinner or generally hanging out (if it's not too cold), and there are board games and jigsaw puzzles in the common room.
There are deer who wander between the shore and the backyard who're easy to photograph.
Incidentally the hostel's right on the shore, which might be called a beach...  but it isn't a beach with sand, & it's not suitable for swimming as such.

We stayed in the c&n hostel during our island trip and if it wouldn’t have been the last nights we would have stayed a lot longer. The place was super cozy with a nice view to the sea, they had a beautiful garden and the atmosphere was very comfortable and made you feel at home right away. We met some really nice people and had a bonfire in the backyard. The showers are clean and the rooms nice. I highly recommend this place!

The price can not be beat in Ucluelet where it's incredibly difficult to find affordable accommodations. Overall, the hostel was cleaner than others I have stayed at in Vancouver, however there is a mattress that has blood on it and it looks as if no one has made any attempts to clean this. Pretty gross since I noticed this was also commented on over a month ago on trip advisor. The wooden frammed beds were better than the metal frames which move substantially even when people move just a tiny bit. The mattress I slept on looked clean and was very comfortable. Extra blankets were available. This place didn't give out towels like others do. During our stay, the front desk person was only available in the afternoon and evening, but was helpful in directing us towards some hikes. There aren't any organized activities at this hostel, but I met some cool people in the kitchen none the less.  If you take the Tofino bus into town, it's about a 15 minute walk to the hostel. The yard is beautiful. In the early morning I took a walk towards the shore behind the house and saw two bald eagles. It's in walking distance to the wild Pacific trail. Overall good.

Hostel was perfectly located waterfront however also walking distance  to the villiage. 
It's clean, nice atmosphere, great communal kitchen and a lounge.
The garden is beautiful, waking up early morning to see deters wander around the property

A perfect Port in a Storm

One of the best hostels on our trip 

A little known gem in the wilderness

The backpackers hostel is set along a stunning beach and nice to sit on the picnic tables or lounge chairs breathing in the fresh Pacific Northwest air. 

The girl who welcomed us was friendly, but forgot to explain the vital facility stuff...washrooms and showers. My bed was clean, but my friend indicated there was blood on her mattress. 

I thought the overall accommodation was clean, and it’s a good idea with the no shoes rule. Please note I compare it to some filthy Central American places. $43 seems like a lot for just a bed in a stuffy room of 10 though. 


Set along a beautiful beach 

Very bad experience- lousy room, tiny and noisy with uncomfortable beds. Terrible owner not polite who took 2 days to bring us an additional blanket. Full of interdiction- you really feel like you are here to pay and leave. Owner should think about changing job or just be courteous to his clients. All prepaid so wish we could have left after first night!
