It's comfortable but not really good. But as long you can sleep on it...cause I need sleep but need more pillows. I have kids too but so frustrating..cause I cant sleep too...cause i wanna sleep, but cant. 

Embarrassing cause you cant have your own privacy..like other motel/hotels...

We arrived at the Old Country Motel where we found the office open sign off and a sign on the door to call Sam. We called Sam and he said he would be right down. As the office was a house, we assumed he meant down the stairs to let us in. He meant drive down from wherever he was. When he arrived, he offered us an upgraded room at the Modern Motel which he also owned.  When we looked at the room it was nothing special but the price was alright. We loaded our luggage in after a long day on our motorcycle. I went to the office and paid and came back to my wife pointing out the roach running across the counter. I went back where Sam offered us another room. I declined and he quickly refunded our room... after we were told we had to vacate it.

Room #11, queen bed, tv, small kitchenette. 
Tim Hortons walking distance, as well as some fast food establishments nearby.
Gas station just up the road.
One road to large box stores and shopping mall, as well as a small parkette nearby and large park a short drive away.

Great value

I stopped here overnight to rest, it is what it’s called Old, but I like that. The owner was friendly and informative. The bed was comfortable and clean, everything was good. If you want crisp new buildings you will find them and pay for that. This fit my needs and pocket book.

A clean friendly place

It is old, though not country, lol. We stopped there for a night and the gentleman who owns it was a charmer! Adored him right off the bat. Was the room perfect? Definitely no. It was old, it was a little run down, but it was clean and fairly priced. Laundry Mat onsite, and not bad parking. He was up and greeted us on our way out of town the next morning. The only real negative I'd say is that he recommended we grab a meal at the bar across the street- we made it two steps inside and left. The place reeks of beer and vomit. I wouldn't recommend it as a place to eat. But for accommodations for a night, The Old Country is a clean little place to stay! While not the worst neighborhood of Thunder Bay, it wasn't the best either. But we had no issues.

Clean place for a decent price!

We've stayed a number of times for extended periods of time. The rooms are clean and set up for everything you need for long-term stays and quite comfortable. The owner Sam was willing to let us see multiple rooms and make our choice. We found the owner would go above and beyond to accommodate us and was extremely friendly and personable, which is a big deal-maker for us when deciding to stay long-term at a motel. Considering the quality service, the price is more than reasonable. We will definitely be staying here again when we're in Thunder Bay!

Friendly owner and unbeatable value

I've found the owner, Sam, to be friendly and helpful even though I didn't speak to him much:  once when I called to ask questions and book the hotel, and the other three times when I arrived.  He was very accommodating when I told him I wanted to see the room before I checked in.  I knew it was a lower priced accommodation but I was satisfied: two queen beds, non smoking room, clean bathroom.  There was also a microwave, kitchen sink, stove, small coffee pot, toaster, fridge, xtra TV but I didn't plan on using them so didn't care.  The room does show it's age with some furnishings but the bathroom and TV are updated and that's what counts to me.  Would I stay here again for a night? yes!  For a week?  no

My rating is done considering the price paid and what you get

Arriving late at night (twice) and unexpected, the proprietor, Sam Elhriki, was extraordinarily accommodating and welcoming.  Not the most prestigious hotel in the world, this motel was a very clean, inexpensive, easy to find and close to good breakfast restaurants, gas and highway.  The first visit was by happenstance.  I had booked with expedia the motel across the road, only to arrive at 1am to find my room had been given away.  The Old Country Motel found me a nice room.

Friendly and Helpful

I was traveling across the country, stopped at the old country motel , the modern LED sign attracted me , Friendly staff , paid $58.00 for a single room it was cozy and clean ,first thing I checked the bed and fount clean sheets ,new comforter and the Mattress was new and expensive one with pillow top bathroom has newer bath tub and laminate floor  .I had a good sleep, hot shower, wifi was good. I promised to write a good review , I stayed her on November , I will stay here again .
