Catalina Motel

We made a quick overnight stop in Sault Ste. Marie.  We booked this hotel because the rooms looked nice and the price was good.  It was a little family motel.  The person who checked us in was very friendly and check in was quick. It was a very comfortable room, we felt right at home and enjoyed our stay. There were many places to eat and stores within walking distance.

Amazing owners.  Appreciated the friendly service. Room was clean and well equipped.  Beds were good. Good water pressure in the shower.

We enjoyed our stay here. It’s clean and comfortable. We would stay here again.

A very comfy bed and clean is all I really ask for and they delivered. Staff is super friendly and helpful.

Cozy, comfy

I booked the room for my daughter and grandkids. Once I got reception the service was excellent as my daughter was going to be a late check in and was on the road. The receptionist texted her on the express check in and when my daughter couldn’t reply because she was driving, phoned her and explained how to do the check in in detail. Daughter said that the room was clean and beds were comfortable and that she would stay again

Im on the road and stay at motels a lot, this is the cleaness and most updated motel I've ever been to.The owners live next door making it is to access them when needed.I didn't get to chat with them but the husband was quite nice and had everything ready for an easy and quicj check in.Im planning the same trip next year and ill definitely be booking with this motel again.Oh and the beds were so comfy

Cleanest Motel Around

I rated this hotel higher than average due to the great service and the reasonable rate.

You can tell that the owners have upgraded the hotel inside from something that probably was quite old.  There is still a little show of wear and tear but it's nothing major.

The room was clean and comfortable.

A Good Night's Stay

We stayed here on our way to Saskatchewan and on the return trip home, I can't say enough good about the Catalina . Easy and fast after hours check in, ample parking for my dually pick up and cargo trailer. The rooms are very spacious ,a big plus for us as we travel with our 3 smaller dogs . The bathroom was spotless and the room itself was tidy, clean  and odor free. Rooms are pretty soundproof, didn't hear any traffic noise or noise from the rooms on either side. Owners are very friendly, rates are very reasonable and the Catalina is dog friendly ! We highly recommend you stay here.

"a true gem amongst the giants"

rolled up fairly late after a long day of riding. Was greeted with a friendly smile unlike the folks down the road who didn't care for a bug covered rider in the lobby.
Not only was the room clean and quiet, the place was well kept beyond what you would think of an older motel. They even offered me a bucket of soapy water and some rags to clean my bike. Simple and proper treatment.  long over due review as this was mid Aug.

in and out visit

The owner Suzanne ( Susan) was very accommodating, courteous and personable. The room was impeccable as well as the washroom. Beds were comfortable and each had 3 pillows for our comfort. A Keurig coffee machine plus real ceramic mugs were a special treat! The mini fridge ( large size) was very roomy and clean. Having a Microwave was also a bonus! We used it every day!
The bedding and decor is modern. 

The Motel is close to restaurants (some walking distance) and shopping such as grocery store, thrift shop and Dollar store too!

My stay at the Catalina was a 5 star experience!

Thanksgiving family visit

We went to motel with my husband just to get the train tour. The motel booked our tickets when all tickets on train web site were sold out. Together with the room price it was very good package. BUT! Our train was cancelled because trucks were flooded due to unexpected harsh weather. What a pity! The railway refunded our train tickets, and Catalina refunded our unused night, because we decided to return back to Toronto. So -our disappointment with train cancellation was compensated by Catalina compassionate and friendly service! Thank you so much and see you next fall, when we'll come back for sure to take the train and your accommodation. The best - Mr and Mrs Levy

Service with heart and great hospitality!

The location of the motel was great for us.  There are lots of shops and restaurants nearby.  The room was clean and very nicely decorated.  The room had many great amenities such as a large bar fridge, microwave, table with chairs and desk.  The wifi was great and there were lots of tv channels to watch.  The woman at check-in was very nice and the process was quick and easy.  It is very convenient to be able to have you car parked at your door.  

The beds were very hard and not the most comfortable.  While the shower is nice and new, the water pressure is terrible. 
 The location of the motel is convenient, but because it is on a busy street corner the traffic noise is quite bad.  It might be better if you had a room on the back of the motel.  The curtains hang out from the window, so there is no way to block the light coming in if you want to sleep in.  

Overall it was a good stay and I would stay there again.
