A la Croisée des Chemins

This BnB is in a spectacular old Acadian house built either in 1802 (owner info) or 1840 (published literature). I think the owner is correct. The host is very friendly and while she does not speak great English, her English is much better than my French which is zero. We had some great exchanges even with language limitations. We were able to communicate enough for her to tell me that my 5 Great Grandfather, Jacques Hebert, who had donated the land for the Presbytere, the historic church and the cemetery lived in this house when he made those donations. This old house has great exposed examples of jointing of large timber structural members without the use of metal hardware, nails or bolts. The bedroom was large, the bathroom small but adequate and we had our own sitting room and TV. The Owner had lots of L'Acadie history books and pictures and went out of her way to take materials to a copying business and make copies for me. BnB breakfasts are special, because you generally get to try something that the host is really good at preparing and this was no exception to that general expectation. We will stay here again someday even though it is a long way from Tempe, Arizona, USA.
