What a great place! I was looking for something that would be in the center of everything and have a good view.

I found it at the hotel Terrasse Dufferin.

Amelie was helpful to update my reservation to a room with a balcony and it did not disappoint!

The room itself had a nice living space with a kitchenette, the bathroom was clean and the bedroom was comfy and had a bureau/work desk.

The balcony had a small table for me to enjoy watching the sunset and have a few beers.

The building is old but it’s got a nice charm to it.

This place does not have elevators so plan on walking up and downstairs If you’re on any of the upper floors.

I also like the fact that this hotel is just a few steps away from shops, restaurants, and most nearby attractions.

If you’re in Quebec City I would definitely recommend this place to call home while you’re in town.

Is this a brand new luxury hotel?  No.  Is it an older, clean building that has some of the most magnificent views in Quebec City?  Yes!  The building is old (180 years) but is has been kept up nicely, and we loved the eccentricities of the older building.  There is no elevator, so be prepared for a climb.  We had Room 14, which has a balcony.  That alone made this stay absolutely amazing!  We sat out for coffee in the morning and for wine at night.  Dufferin Terrace is just below, the river right in front, and the Chateau to the left.  IT WAS AMAZING. Splurge for the balcony!  The price is great for being this centrally located.  The staff is fantastic.  Our room was clean and comfortable. Amélie was so friendly and helpful, answering questions and calling a taxi.  Everyone spoke both French and English very well, so there was no confusion (because my French is not too good). 

We want to return in the winter soon--and this is where we'll be staying again.  Thanks for an amazing 6 days in Quebec!

Awesome little gem in maybe the best location in the city overlooking Dufferin Terrace. Spotlessly clean, great staff who were friendly and helpful. Nice common kitchen and garden outside for guest use. I had the one bedroom apartment on the top floor, great view down the river. Restaurants close by as well as a small grocery store, close to the funiculaire and bus.

This is a nice little hotel in an amazing location in Old Quebec (practically next to the Fairmont, and fronting the promenade overlooking the St. Lawrence). It is by no means a luxurious or trendy hotel, but it is clean and very reasonable rates for the location, and the management was very friendly (and spoke both French and English), and they accommodated my late evening arrival with self-check in instructions. 

I had a regular queen room without the river view (it just looked onto the other buildings behind the hotel), which was perfectly fine, especially if you plan to be out and about most of the day. There was some light noise from the room directly overhead, but overall it was fairly quiet (it is a small hotel, so there aren't many other guests to make noise!) There was no included breakfast, but the room was stocked with free little snacks in the refrigerator (granola bar, etc.) and had a small in-room coffeemaker w/coffee and tea provided. 

The location was great - I walked everywhere (to/from train station, all around upper and lower old city, to/from Plains of Abraham and port area where the Strom spa is, and to/from St. Roch (a trendier neighborhood below the old city). As long as you are prepared for uphill/downhill on walks, there's no need for a car if you stay here. I would definitely stay here again if I were to revisit Quebec!

We arrived at Hotel Terrasse Dufferin  and WOW what an awesome surprise. We were greeted by Amélie, who instantly made us feel welcome and like we were the most important guests ever! The hotel in our opinion is perfectly situated right near the Chateau with views of the river. Our room was also great we couldn’t fault it, large and very comfortable.  We originally booked for 2 and stayed for 5 nights.

Amélie and Simon have only taken over the hotel recently, we wish them the very best in their new venture with all the plans for improvements they have and are positive they will be extremely successful. We will be back!!

You can not beat a price and location of this charming hotel! Our group was 7 people and we good 2 beautiful spacious rooms. The hotel is old, rooms are dated but very clean, cozy, comfortable beds and good quality sheets. It had a small kitchen with coffee and muffins and an amazing view of river!
We arrived earlier and got 2 parking spots, we were lucky! Not so many parking at the hotel, but you can easily find around. 
Gentlemen at the front desk is very nice, speaks English as well :)
We would definitely stay here again, hopefully this winter.

Great place with friendly and accommodating staff.

The gentleman at the front desk had us store our bikes in a secure and convenient place.  Access was never a problem.

The room we had was very clean and tidy.  It was small, and also a great deal.  The location affords a beautiful view of the river, from a small balcony.

No doubt, we'll be returning here.

What a fabulous location overlooking the river, next to Chateau Frontenac and US Consulate.  Older smaller rooms but bathroom was full size and the mattress in my room was perfect with nice quality linens. I arrived in city at 6:10 am off overnight train and was at their door at 7am.  They don't open until 8 but owner and manager called me back to assure me someone would be there shortly to let me. 100% happy with the hotel but the location is a $$ million.

We had room no.1 with a balcony overlooking the water. It’s a big room with 2 beds, a fireplace, a sofa and chair, a desk/chair, fridg and full bathroom, all beautifully decorated with the 180 year old period feeling. It is comfortable, warm and homey, in addition to being super clean. The Terrasse Dufferin, of course is right on the famous Terrasse Dufferin boardwalk that it shares with the Chateau Frontenac. It even has an stand-alone A/C unit which is fabulous as it is 31 Celsius outside  with a “feels like” 40 Celsius.  The fridg is stocked with muffins, granola bars and coffee creamers.  The hosts are very welcoming and helpful. Overall, it doesn’t get better if you are looking for authentic century old accommodations.

Perfect stay in every way

This was my second time visiting this hotel. The first time was  30 years ago and stayed in the suite. The suite is spacious and great for a family. View is wonderful and has a little kitchen. 
This visit with only one room left we stayed in the basement. Honestly it’s small but we only slept in there! Bare bones and nothing has changed in 30 years but I don’t mind that personally. 
The best qualities about this hotel is the staff and location! 
Emily was a delight to work with and so accommodating. Check in was effortless. Small treats are in the fridge to get you going in the morning including orange juice. 
The location is amazing with views of the at Lawrence and minutes to street entertainment. 
We will be back!! Thank you!

Great Surprise

This is quaint very old hotel.  It needs some sprucing up; The furniture in our room was early garage sale.  The room was very clean though and comfortable. The location was the true beauty of the property. Walking to everything was so easy. We enjoyed staying there.  We knew it was not going to be luxurious. I think they could visit a few resale shops and pick up some nicer furniture, 

Best Location in Old Quebec

The location of this hotel is excellent in every sense: extremely central and with great views.  The hotel is an older one, probably a converted house.  It may have 4-5 floors but I don't think they have an elevator.  They do have employees who presumably will help with your bags.  (We were on the second floor so there was no issue.)
Our room was modest but clean.  The price was modest, too.  All in all, I would stay here again.

Wonderful location

I traveled to Quebec City October 21-24, 2022, and stayed in this hotel. I was very happy with my choice. The room was very affordable, and the location was impressive. The hotel is located just above Terrasse Dufferin in Old Quebec City. It was clean and safe. It's 180 years old, but my room was in good condition. They even provided a fridge with some prepackaged muffins, jam, and coffee creamer that you could use for free, if you wished. I'd definitely stay here again.
