Awakenings Inn

We stayed here for 2 nights and loved every minute of it.   The house is beautifully decorated. The rooms are cozy.  The host is friendly and respectful of your privacy. She knows a lot about the area and makes great recommendations

You are only half an hour away from the Wood Island ferry to Nova Scotia. The inn is located on a hill on a steep road up and there was quite some traffic noise, but it was ok during the night so we had a good night’s sleep. The room was tastefully furnished with antiques. It seemed very clean and the bed was comfortable. The light switch for our room was outside which didn’t matter as we were the only people staying there but what if someone had switched it by mistake... WIFI was good. No breakfast was served.
The hostess Betty is very friendly and we had access to a kitchen and lounge area.

Hostess very friendly, offered us delicious tea at the covered varanda with flowers and decorative lights. We learned a lot with her about some of PEI's history. Our room was comfortable and beautifully decorated.
Only drawback: did not consult us about our preferred form of payment and went ahead using our Visa
Very close buy at the Marina, delicious  Cafe Restaurant with European chef. Delicious breakfast and scenery!!

Comfy room, great owner and good location make this an affordable choice. It's an older property with some nice views of the townscape just off of the main road through town...good price-point for an all-around satisfying experience.

I have not seen a recent review on TripAdvisor - they don’t reflect the current situation with this establishment. After a very nice dinner in the local area, we returned to the Awakenings Inn to be greeted by the smell of cigarette smoke within the Inn. The establishment has no smoking rooms and a no smoking policy throughout the premises. Not sure whether it was the owner or a patron who was responsible, but it is totally unacceptable! As for our room, the bed was past its “best before” date as it sagged in the middle, squeaked terribly with any movement, and we had a terrible sleep. The lighting was dim and inadequate for shaving or putting on makeup. The floor under the bed was dirty, and the inn has a musty smell overall. Others have mentioned the traffic noise, no change in that regard. The only plus was the good quality toiletries provided and the charm of the antiques plus a nice kitchen and breakfast area. Breakfast itself was very basic but okay: bagels, muffins, cream cheese, jam, coffee, orange juice.  I intended to tell the patron about our negative experience but they were not present during breakfast the following morning.

Disappointing - more of a Denouement than an Awakening

This is a small, dark, musty smelling  "inn". It is NOT updated but it is cheap. The web site led us to believe it would be much nicer. We were stunned when we arrived but had no other options available. Even the Towels smell of mildew. Owner seems nice.
