Amadeus Haus

We chose Amadeus House due to its proximity to downtown, the Avon Theatre and the Festival Theatre. We were there for a 2 night stay, attending 3 plays in early Sept., 2019. When we first stayed there in 2016, we were very impressed with the Victorian style house with its beautiful interior décor. We returned this year and stayed in the Red Room, a big beautifully furnished room with a bright bay window, large bathroom with a brand new shower. Bill and Dorien are gracious, lovely host and hostess. Dorien even let us into the kitchen to have coffee in the morning while she prepares breakfast. She is a terrific cook and baker, preparing all her own bread, muffins and danishes. She even supplied us with baggies to take away some of the delicious baked goods. It is disappointing that we won't be able to return to the Amadeus House next year. Bill and Dorien have decided to retire at the end of the Stratford Festival season, and have sold the house to a private party who will not continue to operate it as a bed and breakfast. Bill and Dorien, you run the best bed and breakfast. All the best to your retirement. After 17 years of hard work, you deserve to step back, relax and enjoy life.
