1000 Islands / Ivy Lea KOA

We booked the 7 person cabin for a weekend and we’re very impressed. Clean, spacious, private cabin. The cabin also comes with a private hot tub that fits 4 comfortably.  The cabin has two outdoor areas, a deck with a hot tub, bbq, picnic table and chairs. The second one is in the front of the house with a small table umbrella and fire pit area. 

Would recommend this cabin at KOA. Staff were friendly and attentive to our needs. 


Great cabin rental, friendly and helpful staff. Great location. How can you go wrong with full bathroom, full kitchen, wifi, satellite TV for playoff hockey and fire pit.  Used AC a few days, easy parking and a pool and hot tub too. Will go back.

We got one night in a deluxe cabin at the last minute. Upon arrival the AC unit was not working. However, they came really fast and it was working again before too long. Very responsive staff! I wish we could have stayed more nights but it was booked solid! Next time I’ll try to book farther in advance. Anyways this is our 3rd time here and it’s lovely. The kids love it. My only suggestion is that they need more benches at the park for parents to sit. There is only 1 and it’s always taken as there are numerous families. Would be nice to have more seating. Thanks again for hosting us!

Stayed two nights at this KOA on the way back from touring the East Coast.  This is a clean quiet campground with plenty of ammenities.

PROS:
- Big rig friendly level full-hookup pull-thru sites (50A, water, sewer, on gravel pad).
- Kid friendly with pools (both kid and adult), playground, jumping pillow.
- Reasonably equipped general store at front desk (basic food, souvenirs, camping supplies).
- Friendly, quiet, family oriented neighbours.
- Enjoyed a camp fire and made full use of the pool!
- Free WiFi
- About 25 minutes to Gananoque and the Thousand Islands Boat Tour.
- Great service at check-in.

CONS:
- There are some low hanging tree branches in awkward places that can scrape the walls of tall trailers.
- Some sites are a little narrow; parking/maneuvering may be tricky for some sites.
- A little expensive in comparison to other campgrounds.

great spot to go for a family vaca. We came last year for a weekend and ended up booking a full week here after coming once. Staff are amazing, activities for the kids are excellent and it’s also great for the adults. 

We will be repeat campers here for many years to come. Definitely recommend. My wife and I are mid thirty’s and have one boy, he learned to ride his bike with no training wheels here with the help of our camper neighbours kids. Just a great community at these KOA’s. 

Bring the bike and hit the parkway trail. Great cycle.

We recently stayed in the campground and although it may be considered rather expensive considering the COVID-19 limitations (limited activities) the friendliness and professionalism of the staff, particularly Clifford, made it a great experience.  
 
We had an issue and Clifford and Leonard went above and beyond expectations to help us. When I told Clifford that I could not thank him enough,  he said that he was just doing his job.  Huge kudos to Clifford and Leonard for their exceptional customer service and professional know how.  

In addition, the campground was very clean, washrooms were awesome and all employees were courteous.

Great week at KOA Cabin

Good park with reasonable space. Water pressure is a bit low and the park was mostly empty. Power is good and solid. no low voltage dips. Some spots on a hill so not all level. WiFi was atrocious. Lots of emitters but most seemed not to work. Needs massive WiFi upgrading. Lots to do within 40 minutes in either direction.

Don't expect the WiFi to work.

We had a nice treed site for 2 nights that was clean and spacious. Pool was great for a quick 15 min. dip. A little pricey considering many activities and some facilities were closed. Only found one set of bathrooms/showers. If you are close it's great...if not it kinda sucks. If you need wood buy it elsewhere as a big bag was $14.

Nice family camping 

We booked 2 nights in a basic cabin for the weekend, which is located in a nice area of the campground, close to bathrooms and showers. The cabin is clean and well kept with a small fridge and microwave. 

We have been coming to this KOA for many years now, but it is starting to look run down when compared to other KOAs that we have been. The kids parc is a nice size but there are many unsafe features..we noticed metal rings sticking out under the monkey bars and the slide had a crack. The pool area is packed and there was a large group in the hot tub both nights, with music pumping until they closed it down. It would be nice to see the pool area revamped and bigger to accommodate the number of guests who may camp at any given time.

The organised kids activities are great and enjoyable, tye die, BINGO, pancake breakfast etc.
I would recommend this KOA nonetheless, but would live to see some basic upgrades considering the price that they charge/night.

Weekend with family and friends

We booked one night here while travelling trough Ontario. We we're tenting and booked a grassy lot, knowing it would be further away from facilities. Our lot was huge and beautiful, perfect for our family. However, the facilities we're just way too far... The site only offers bathrooms in the main building and it ended up being at least a 5 minute walk for an adult walking at a good pace. We noticed where we would had been had we picked a gravel lot, they are closer to the main building, but also cramped in between RV spots, so that would not have been any fun for us. We also felt the activities start too late. Jumping pillow, pool, park, all closed until 10 am. I think everyone knows that when you camp with little ones, it's hard to keep them busy once they are up at the crack of dawn!

Not a good layout.

We booked a full service 50 amp pull through site for our 35' fifth wheel in mid-August, 2019.  The site was clean enough but too short and too narrow for our RV and truck. There were tree branches hanging low enough that they were a concern.  This KOA has nice facilities for a family with younger children but without younger children who will use those facilities its just too pricey. Only a few back-in sites are big enough for larger rigs.  It is a good location right on the 1000 Islands Parkway though which puts you close to many sight seeing opportunities in the area.  If you won't have kids with you, check out the "1000 Islands / Kingston KOA" and the "1000 Islands / Mallorytown KOA" as an alternative.

Good for families with kids and a smaller trailer.

Check-in was quick and easy!! We arrived to our Deluxe Cabin to find the floor was still wet from being washed!!! For someone who prefers cleanliness in their accommodations this was a pleasant welcome! 
We unpacked and kids jumped on the double bubble wagon ride. A fun beginning!
No outdoor movies as advertised on their website. The website will have you hooked line and sinker with the photos and daily events listed. None of this is accurate. The events are minimal or non-existent. If you show up for "Smores" (marshmallows roasted over a tin can fire) 15 mins after it starts it will be all packed up and put away. 
The time we spent at the KOA was in the pool area. This area is a mess. The gardens are full of weeds, weeds in the patio stones, the slide steps are covered in mould. The chemicals in the pool will DESTROY swimsuits. They add chlorine in the morning and evening everyday. If you have sensitive skin it burns. The pool closes at 6. Right on the dot. There is zero flexibility. If it has rained allllll day and the sun comes out at 5:30, too bad! Time for you to leave the pool!!!

We were charged PEAK pricing - $250 / night. The events reflect off-peak  scheduling as does the pool times. Off peak pricing is $106/ night. 

I'd be leaving a much different review if the pricing reflected the events offered. 

When we were leaving and checking under the beds, couches etc for clothing we found PILES of dog hair!!! We didn't bring a pet... We did see the house keeping golf cart. No vacuum onboard. gross. 

On a positive note our fridge was on the fritz and the owners son delivered one promptly in a rainstorm!! 

The location is amazing. So much to do in the area, it's unfortunate the owners don't take this place to it's full potential.
