Auberge Le Cabanon

The hotel is designed for snowmobilers, yet we went there in the low summer season to enjoy the lake and the surrounding forests with lots of wild berries. In this period of the year, Le Cabanon offers a family-friendly environment at quite reasonable prices. Unsurprisingly, the visitors are mostly parents with young kids, especially during the weekends, and retired couples. The hotel is excellently located, right on the lake with its own beach (plus swimming pool and jacuzzi). Plenty of water-sport equipement is available for free, plus a boat excursion across the lake included in the price (might not be available on all days, though). Rooms are clean with furniture that might look a bit old, but is well preserved and functional. Those with a lake view are in better shape. On the service side, we could feel the lack of staff on some days (admittedly, they have difficulties hiring). Nevertheless, the overall service was up to our expectations. Beside the boat excursion, we particularly appreciated the beach fire Denis, the owner, organized for hotel's guests. Food in the restaurant is standard and the choice rather limited, yet we found our dishes tasted quite good. The prices were OK. On the reverse side, not much to complain about. Safe one thing: The main equipment in the WC looks like designed for hobbits rahter than for Homo sapiens ;-) All in all, we enjoyed our stay and hope to go there again soon.
