HI-Athabasca Falls

This has to be the best hostel experience that we had on our Canada trip.  It was one of the cleanest most welcoming hostels with every amenity that you could need.  The communal kitchen and lounge space was fantastic and so homely.    Not having a shower didn't bother us at all as it wasn't that warm but there was the option to shower at the HI in Jasper.  We loved the peace and quiet and it was an easy 20 minute drive to Jasper.

We had a great stay here, the hostel is in a fantastic location just a short walk from the falls. 

The common area is very well looked after and there is plenty of cooking equipment, seating etc. Unfortunately we did have a loud snoarer in our room for 2 nights, but this is something to be expected with shared rooms! Just remember to bring some earplugs just in case. 

The gentleman running the hostel was very knowledgeable and more than happy to help where needed, also siggestions on where best to visit in the area. We stayed in Sep 22 when there was a wildfire that closed most of Jasper town, he was mote than willing to help other travellers with changes to their ownward journeys. 

I would reccomend going to the falls early in the morning, they are absolutely stunning. 

My favourite wilderness hostel. The common area it's just so cozy and very wel organized. Also it shows that the managers are trying to keep the place clean and tidy, which definietly helps. The only bummer was that when we were there it was a lso a big group, which kind of prevent us to connect with other travellers, but they were still nice and respectful. Also the bedroom was quite spacious, and all the little details, like some kind of curtains between bunkbeds, make the place really special. It really shows when someone puts the effort to make a place nice, much appreciated. 

We stayed here in June 2022 and had a really memorable and lovely experience. We have been travelling Canada for one month and this was our favourite place that we stayed! The hostel exceeded our expectations and we were very well looked after by Jeff; he was so attentive and helpful and made sure that we had everything we needed at all times during our stay. It was a pleasure to meet Jeff and we look forward to staying here again in the future. Highly recommended! Jen and Bee x

If you want to experience sleeping warmly in the wild this is the place. 
Ultra clean, well organised, amazing kitchen set up with loads of utensils and spices. 
Really warm at night which is very much appreciated. 
You even hear the Athabasca falls from there, and there are a couple of small treks available.

I have been coming to this hostel for over 20 years and it has never looked better. It is clean, comfortable and unique. Lots of upgrades over the years have made it a wonderful stay. Easy parking, safe drinking water, log cabin feel inside, clean rooms. One of the best wilderness, rustic hostels in the system. Thanks to Kumi for great hospitality recently and for Jeff who has been overseeing many improvements for years!

Me and my friends stayed for one night after hiking in Jasper National Park. This hostel exceeded our expectations in every sense. We were expecting a bungalow with no electricity and some cabins with beds, but the common room is actually an amazing big hut with a well furnished kitchen, couches, big tables and lights/sockets. We were welcome by a hot stove, relaxing music and a nice atmosphere. There is no current water but they have a big tank right in the kitchen, so no need to go outside to get supply. The toilets are very clean and the dorms are big and they also have lights and sockets. There are no showers but, knowing that in advance, we had stopped at the Aquatic Center in Jasper where you can use the public showers for just a few dollars. The location is amazing. It is right across the street from the Athabasca Falls and it is an officially recognized dark sky spot (never seen so many stars in my life). I'll definitely be back.

We stayed here in Mid June for 3 nights. Room is very nice and can accommodate a family (2 adults with kids). Only issue I had with the room was the lighting - it is pretty badly designed and hits you in the eye when sitting on the bed (at least our room). We hung out in the common area most of the time. It is very well maintained and kept clean. Of the 3 nights we were there, 2 nights were very peaceful and we were able to cook/hang out till late in the night. One of the night, there was a big group of college kids who were on a tour - they were cooking and having fun. While it did not bother us (except we had to cook faster to accommodate them), I am not sure if others will be OK with that. I heard from the host that group visits are common during the Summer time. I guess that is part of being in a hostel. That aside, best part of this hostel is that it is right next to Athabasca falls which are gorgeous. We went there every day while we were there. Overall I would stay here again. 

PS : To address one of the reviewer's concern, there is good signage now on the freeway.

We stayed 2 nights in a private room at the hostel.  Very comfortable indeed - the community room is very homey, clean and inviting.  

There is no internet or hot showers and there is no flush toilets but that just adds to the entire experience.  

Staff were friendly and helpful.  Best hostel we have stayed at!  

Jeff was our host for three days at the hostel while we hiked Jasper. One of the days we slept in the hostel all 16 beds were full. Regardless, we all had different schedules and it worked out great. There’s no running water, but there’s drinking and cooking water from a tank, two gas stoves, a sink full of sudsy hot water for washing dishes, two pit toilets, a changing room/sponge bath room and plenty of space. Jeff recommended several great hikes. The hostel is set in natural splendor, and feels like you are returning to a simpler time.
