McCracken Country Inn

We had a very enjoyable stay here.  The room was large and clean as was the bathroom.  The manager was very welcoming and could not have been more accomodating.  The wifi worked well.  Excellent value for the price.

My partner and I were staying in Hinton for a weekend. We needed a place that would accept dogs. I booked a great room at the McCracken Country Inn. Sandy was very friendly . The rooms were very clean and big. I was sad to see the Inn was up for sale . We would definitely stay at the McCracken again . 

We like to give locals the business over chains when possible and were not disappointed with McCracken Inn.  It no longer offers meals due to being for sale, but the manager gave us several good suggestions for dinner and breakfast places.
The room was large and well appointed.  Most importantly it was clean and the bed was very comfortable.  It had a fridge and a microwave, as well as a hot pot to heat water.  No coffee pot, only instant coffee.
Nice gas fireplace in the room.

A Hidden Gem in Hinton

McCracken's Inn must have been an amazing place in its prime. There appears to be a huge tea room/restaurant which they seem not to be using. The lobby area is so quaint and Victorian-pretty.

It is pet friendly. 

We walked in and the room was 28 degrees! The room was really large with a sofa, 1 double bed and a table and 2 chairs. The room and bed were clean.

The only one lamp in the room didn't work. There was an old-school noisy overhead fan which had only 1 speeds: high and off. The fireplace pilot light was on which made it so hot, the glass was too hot to touch - hence the hot room. There is a small under window air conditioner which brought fresh air in but so loud, it sounded like a room full of blow dryers running on high!

The tv is really small and about 15 feet away from the bed (on the mantelpiece). You would have to rearrange the room to be able to watch tv. 

It was very quiet and the hostess was very friendly and helpful. 

The bathroom was also very clean. 

Apparently this hotel has been for sale for 6 years. This little Inn would a real gem with a facelift and some serious maintenance.  The location is great - easy to find. Hard to see from the highway because of poor signage. 

We would love to have gone to their tea room for brunch - if only it was open.  My imagination went crazy with what this quaint  In  could be. 



Tired Inn with great potential

We stayed for three nights as booked.  The motel was quaint and clean.  Dated doesn't bother me, and the older-looking towels, etc. were understandable, considering the for sale sign on the property, but the smoke was awful!  As non-smokers (and cigarette smoke really affects me), I was concerned when the very friendly employee seemed to have a cloud of it around her, even as we were told it was a non-smoking motel.  Arriving back after days of sightseeing, there was always one (or two!) people smoking right by the front door (and under the windows to our rooms upstairs!  This was not good.  It was bad enough that I had to purchase antihistamines after the first night, as I had a sinus headache that threatened to ruin my day, caused by the smoke smell.  Very disappointing to book into a non-smoking facility and have to deal with this!
