Harbour View Inn and suites  sydney nova scotia canada  was the worst experience I had on my months vacation to the maritime provinces Canada!  The room we were given was dirty stink old curtains that wouldn't cover the window! The lobby was great and deceiving so we booked and payed for 3 nights! After one night we deceided to check out but the manager would not give us a refund on the 2 rooms that he would rent again getting  double money! Dog poop in the hall dirty carpet worn out mattress! I got a room for 2 nights at Hliday Inn for 2 nights as I could not get the ferry home until Monday when my reservation was! I it cost me 1000.00  for 2 nights as I never got my refund plus my stay at Holiday inn! Welcome tourist I am disgusted!             Harbour View Inn and suites  100 kings  st Sydney  Nova Scotia canada STAY AWAY FROM THE SLUM!

Vacation

Our GPS took us to their second property, a motel rather than the B&B.  No one was in the building so I called the number left on the check-in desk and Deanne came to get us and lead us to the proper property (just down the road).  She checked us in and suggested places that we could get dinner.  She even called ahead to make sure we could eat there.  Outstanding service.

The rooms were a good size, clean and the ensuite bathroom was good.  The establishment doesn't offer a cooked breakfast but there were baked goods and cereal in a common kitchen.  A nice stay.

Stayed there one night before going to St. Pierre. Very nice room, clean, nice bathroom.
There is a great kitchen and supermarkets close by.
Close to the ferry.
Same people have the Fortune Hotel, also nice, but I like this one better.

A rather good place

They call it a bed and breakfast but in actuality its a rented bedroom and sharing the fully equipped kitchen and common area with other guests, there is no breakfast provided, you have purchase your own food and utilize the kitchen. The bedroom and bathroom was small, the running water from the shower was a trickle, no pressure. If you have a lot of luggage then be prepared to take the stairs, entrance is on the side of the building, there is no front entrance to use. This was a good stay overall, good in a pinch. The town accommodates the ferry that travels to St Pierre and Miquelon islands

Interesting stay

After a mixup on our part, missing the boat to St Pierre We were stuck with no place to stay. One of the girls at the dock suggested to call Brian he would help us. We were blown away with Brian's help. He set us up with 2 rooms of his B&B close to the boat. With no other guests checked in we had the place to ourselves. It had a big  cozy livingroom with  a big screen tv, also 2 dining room tables for all the guest. The kitchen was a "do it yourself" it had everything you need to prepare a breakfast, lunch and dinner. All you need is you own food. The bedrooms were beautifully decorated, cozy and clean, each had its own washroom. Outside on the deck was a picnic table to sit and enjoy your coffee. I totally recommend this place for anyone who is traveling to Fortune and St Pierre. Brian's kindness will always be remembered.

Best place to stay in Fortune

We couldn't get a room in the B&B upstairs, so stayed in the apartment downstairs. It was a bit more than we needed for one night, but would be great for a family or two couples staying for a week or so in the area. Even though it's a basement, it had 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, dining room and living room, and spacious bathroom. The only thing we didn't appreciate was the 8:20 a.m. wake-up knock on the door to "check that we were okay". We did speak to the owner about this and he assured us it was just an exuberant staff member, and wouldn't happen again. So rest assured future guests! (No breakfast provided in the apartment.)

Downstairs apartment would be nice place for an extended stay

One of the nicest places we stayed while in Newfoundland. The b and b is run with care and efficiency. Brian the owner takes pride in his work and will do whatever he can to make his guests happy. The rooms are attractively decorated,well planned and stocked with all of the ammenities expected. The common room is also clean and comfortable, with up to date magazines and a tv. It is a self-serve breakfast, consisting of off the shelf bread, fruit, jams and cheez whiz. I asked for bacon or sausage and he provided it. When I phoned for a reservation, we had a misunderstanding over price, which was cleared up with a follow up conversation. We would stay here again.
