HI-Kananaskis Hostel

This hostel is in a great location for hiking or cross-country skiing. It is very clean, well equipped and friendly. The bunk beds are comfortable. The price is very reasonable compared to other accomodations in the area.

I stayed here one night this past summer. The hostel is very clean and perfectly located to some any hiking or scrambling in the area. The kitchen is big and has all the amenities. The common room is also large and very comfortable. The dorm rooms are....well dorm rooms. My bed was comfortable and linen was clean, The manager was very friendly and helpful. There were a lot of bears in the area so make sure you have bear spray on hand. I will definitely consider staying here again.

This is a hostel, not a hotel (see ratings below!), but within that framework, it is one of the best around.  Welcoming atmosphere, friendly & relaxed manager, good facilities, great lounge with real wood fire for winter coziness, good location for variety of activities - winter and summer, the kitchen is pretty well equipped, and there's even an outdoor fire-pit that can be used year round.  We'll be back!

Well situated on the way to the Ice Fields and just outside Calgary.  The facilities are spacious, clean, well organized, quiet and the location is scenic.  Kudos to the staff for their warm welcome and we’ll run hostel.  One word description - Wonderful!

The hostel was easy to find with ample parking. The hostel was clean, with lots of pots and pans to cook with.  The only negative for me would be was that it seemed very cool in the hostel.  But they provide lots of blankets if you need them.

This hostel is very clean and well maintained.  We stayed in a private room which was very comfortable.  The bathroom facilities are shared between the 3 private rooms.  

Kitchen and common rooms have great amenities and the hostel has a great feel to it.

I wouldn’t really call this a wilderness hostel though as it has electricity, running water and indoor washrooms.

Only thing missing is wi-fi.



My husband and I only spent one night at this wonderful hostel. We booked a private room with a shared bathroom. The hostel was in a beautiful setting close to the many amazing hikes nearby. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We will definitely stay here again but for at least 2 or 3 nights next time!
