River Rock Guesthouse

I was a bit apprehensive about what this would be like as few photos available and some indifferent reviews. We loved it here. We stayed in the 3 bedroom Scoria suite which was very clean and comfortable with a large modern kitchen. We loved having dinner overlooking the gorgeous Clearwater River which we also rafted down. Karrlee was very helpful too. Recommended. 

We had the Stoneshire originally booked and they changed us to the River Rock. The River rock was lovely. The bed comfortable and the whole house very clean. If you were staying in Clearwater for a few nights then it would be perfect. We met Scott the owner and such a lovey person. Thanks for having us. 

We stayed on the ground floor which had the lounge on entry and the downstairs to the bathroom and two bedrooms. It was lovely and modern, freshly carpeted and nice decor. The only 'kitchen' facility was a coffee maker and a small fridge. There were bugs along the edges of the carpet in the bedroom we stayed in and there were a family staying in the other suite and we could hear every word and footstep they made. Could have done with better soundproofing but overall the room was lovely and it was a very comfortable night stay as a stop over. TV had AppleTV and Netflix which was an added treat, and a lovely riverside private area!

We stayed with  persons in one of the appartments. We had the one at the left. Sitting area and 2 bedrooms downstairs. Nice garden with a stair to the river and picknicktable. Our neighbours were quiet, otherwise you might hear some noise. The place was clean and comfortable.

Stop over in Clearwater

Nice place at the river

The second apartment, is the smaller of the two and has a ground floor lounge which is incredibly dark and dingy during day light hours and has insufficient lighting at night in the lounge and then two bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs in the basement (thankfully the lighting is better downstairs). 

As another guest noted previously, there isn’t a kitchen in this apartment, which is slightly misleading from the pictures, it should be clearly stated.  My husband emailed the owners straight away to make them aware that we were unhappy with our accommodation  - our email didn’t get acknowledged until after we left unfortunately. 

To make matters worse, another family arrived in the upstairs apartment just after us and we discovered that there was absolutely no sound proofing between the apartments. We could pretty much hear what the other guests were saying, clearly hear the tv and it is not an exaggeration to say we thought they might fall through the ceiling at any point their footsteps were so loud. Safe to say, my family went to sleep when our upstairs neighbours decided to and got up when they did! 

The positives are that the apartment was clean and modern...shame about everything else.

Clean, modern, but dark and incredibly noisy if the upstairs neighbours are home!

APARTMENT:
Nice and large and recently refurbished. Very comfortable beds and nice bathroom. Location is on a residential street right on the edge of the river. Easy to access Wells Grey Provincial Park from here. 

CHECK IN:
We were initially informed to pick up keys at another location (some rafting place). When we arrived just before 17:00, the place was closed with a note on the door providing a phone number to call. Luckily, we went to the nearby burger place and they were kind enough to let us use their phone. After no answer the first three times I tried to call, the forth time someone picked up and suggested to head straight to the house - a bit of time wasted there.

KITCHEN:
I had initially understood (from the pictures) that there was a kitchen attached to the place. However, this was not accessible to us. What I understand is that there are two apartments within one house. The larger apartment has access to a kitchen but the smaller (2 bedroom)  apartment does not.  Although there is some coffee maker and fridge (No microwave), all washing up needs to be done in the bathroom.
