Red Top Bed and Breakfast

We stayed overnight on way to Jasper. We loved the accommodation, and the recommendation for evening meal spot on. Breakfast lovely, Marieka and family very welcoming and we would definitely stay again. Clearwater has good cafes for lunchtime

Everything was as expected thanks to the bang-on reviews of others that preceded us. Quiet, comfortable, good food, good hosts (young Peter's almost a pro!). Traveled as couple. Restaurant Hog and Hops great for beer and meat lovers.

Hosted by Marieke and kids, you will feel welcome. The wells gray NP is around the corner. House and rooms are okay. Breakfast is good and Marieke can provide you with tips and advice if you want to.  The shared bathroom is fine, it's spacious and clean.  We can recommend this B&B.

Cozy B&B in Clearwater

Confirmed previous excellent reviews

We stay in a B&B whenever possible when we are travelling. As such we rate our stay based on our previous experiences. The Red Top needs improvement to get it up to the standards of what we usually experience. We had the feeling that the owner really wasn't interested in running a B&B.

The brochure card we had advertised a large screen TV and the opportunity to "relax in the hot tub while enjoying the valley view." These were not available to us. The large screen TV had been removed from it's cabinet and a old, approx. 20" CRT TV had been put in its place on a shelf in the cabinet. The picture was hardly viewable. The hot tub appeared to be totally inoperative. There were items stored on top and the cob webs attached to it indicated that it had not been used for some time. We don't watch much TV but the hit tub would have been nice.
The facility itself was alright but basic. The beds were doubles which is a little tight if you are bigger people. The furniture wasn't the most comfortable, older sofa bed that was very low.

Shared bath with a great shower but shampoo and soap is not supplied. Motorcyle riders don't usually have room to carry sundry items like that.

Breakfast was a minimalist affair not much better than a Super 8. Not impressed at all. Toaster waffles are not acceptable as an adult breakfast alternative.

The Red Top has the potential to be a good B&B but it's going to take an effort on the part of the operator. Until then we would stay elsewhere and advise other TA users to do the same.

Not As Advertised.

I got the feeling that the owner had lost interest in running a B&B. I had been looking forward to the Dutch breakfast mentioned in previous reviews but all I had was toaster waffles- nothing homemade and not even any fresh fruit. This is not acceptable at a B&B and I have not experienced such a breakfast at a B&B before. I would not recommend this B&B.
