Fantastic
266 reviewsAn amazing adventure. Lazy Bear planned the trip to perfection. No detail was left to chance. From the hotel in Winnipeg to the flight to Churchill, to the Lodge, to the tours, every detail was perfectly planned and went off without a hitch. The lodge was quaint. Just what one would want from a lodge in the tundra. Yes the room was small but it was comfortable. The bed was comfortable and the shower had plenty of hot water. The lounge had several couches and a fireplace. It was a great place to sit and talk at the end of the day. It had a refrigerator where you could store items if needed. The check-in area always had someone to answer any questions or fulfill any need. We can't stress how amazing all the staff were. They all clearly love their jobs and always greeted us as we passed by. The dining room was beautiful. Breakfast was a buffet, with ample amounts of both hot and cold items. There were 2 lunch buffets . Bison meatballs, pulled chicken sandwiches, salads, and soup being the options. Two lunches were on the tundra vehicles. Roastbeef, turkey, and ham and cheese sandwiches, and soup were served. Different flavored chips, cookies and cakes. Water, soft drinks and coffee as well. Dinner was off the menu. Many appetizer choices were excellent. Steaks, fish, ribs, pasta, burgers were all good. Desert was delicious. My compliments to the chef. Of course, we came for the Polar Bears. The tundra vehicles were roomy, warm, and had bathroom facilities. Our guide Kelly was amazing, as was Rob the driver. Not only were they experts spotting Polar Bears and not rocks, but they told many great stories and taught us sooo many things about the Bears, the tundra, and Churchill. We saw 19 Bears- 1 approached the vehicle, 3 males standing and sparring, a mother with 2 cubs running from a male were the highlights. We saw Red Fox, Ptarmigan, and an owl as well. We did several other tours as well, with the highlight being Dog sledding adventure with Big Dog. And yes, Iditamile! We also signed up to be called for an Aurora. We saw a spectacular one for 2.5 hours. The colors were dancing across the sky. This was the perfect ending to our 5 star epic adventure. Thanks Lazy Bear! We are now considering their summer adventure to see Beluga whales.
