Right Off 'Da Boat B&B

Fantastic little spot for the night.  Space was a little tight but was very clean and included a kitchenette.  Nicely decorated.  Online pictures don't do it justice.  Has been renovated. Would definitely stay again.

Owners were so friendly and breakfast was delicious and plentiful.

This place is a gem and lives up to its kitschy name in the best way. Had an early morning ferry (4:30am lineup) and needed a pet friendly space for the night as local hotels are disappointingly non-pet friendly. It was right off the main road, super easy to find, a 6 minute drive to the ferry, cozy, spotless, had wifi, nice bedding, fresh towels, great water pressure, and some really cute and thoughtful details for someone travelling long hours. There was a little noise transfer into their main space - nothing major - silent after 9pm, and slight dampness, which is not surprising as it’s situated right in the Atlantic fog. It far exceeded my expectations and I’d stay here over a local hotel in a heartbeat. Thank you for accommodating us and thank you for the yummy treats! 

I had to giggle when I read a review from the Ontario people.....damp....yada yada...Here's the deal, it's damp on the Rock and foggy! My wife and I stayed the night here with George last night and found them to be perfectly hospitable and welcoming. The room had everything (including heat and a thermostat control) we needed for a night and morning. It was very clean and tidy. It was anything but a Damp Dismal Dirty Dump. You don't sit down to a bacon and egg breakfast, there's items in the fridge that are more than enough to start your day, most importantly a coffee maker. If you want a hot breakfast, I suggest heading to Alma's 5 minutes away.....under $10 for 2 eggs, meat, toast and hash browns. Thank you George, Barbara and I had a great sleep.

It was our last night on Newfoundland.  The people here are friendly, the bnb is clean and has everything you would need.  They even offered us a supper of Moose stew!
 Very close to the ferry.  Access to their living room and a great breakfast in the morning.

This little B&B is in an odd location, not really right off the boat, but close, in a sort of construction site that precludes sitting outdoors. BUT it's on trail, so you can take a nice walk.

My room was VERY nice, with ensuite bath. Breakfast was good and the hosts were very friendly.

Well appointed room and good breakfast

This B&B is located way off the beaten path, in an industrial area on the outskirts of town, far from the downtown area.  It is very close to the highway, so road noise can be problematic. We arrived and were shown to our tiny room with a fairly nice ensuite bathroom.  I noticed immediately that one of the resident cats kept wandering towards our room, and was told that the pets never go in guest rooms. But as soon as I spent about 3 mins in the room, I felt the onset of allergies. And we had to keep chasing one of the cats away from our door.  Also, there is a very strong smell of artificial air freshener/perfumes in the house, so if you are sensitive to those, be aware. The floor was dirty beneath our feet, so we felt it had not been swept or vacuumed recently. The breakfast was standard bacon & eggs, toast and a frozen potato patty heated up. There was not a lot of communication by the hosts about the area, and the one recommendation given for a restaurant they said was 7 mins away, was actually 20 minutes down a rough road. No communication about where to find an extra roll of TP, so we used the tissues in the room. No communication about extra towels, just the thin, small towel and facecloth on the towel bar. The location doesn't justify the price at all.

This was a nice B&B very close to where you get off the ferry in Port aux Basque. The rooms were very clean and quiet with comfortable beds. The breakfast was the best I have had at a B&B. Loved the Newfy steak and eggs. 

Nice Place "Right Off Da Boat"

We have stayed at a lot of B and B’s in this price range and this one falls well short of the mark in many areas. It was musty smelling and the bedroom itself is tiny with no window.  It has a small kitchen and another storage area that could be played up to compensate for the limited space in the bedroom ie Some luggage racks in the storage area.  The bed is a double and creaks whenever you roll over.  Given the size of the room, it is pushed up against one wall so the inside person has to crawl over to get out.  If you run a B and B you should expect to either interact somewhat with your guests or at least provide written info for wifi, common areas, breakfast etc.  We were only told where breakfast was. We could hear voices on the other side of our kitchen door but had not been told it was a common area and it seemed to be the owners’ own living room.  Also kitchen garbage can had not been emptied and it stunk.

The owners would not refund our full payment or partial payment.
Not in the least representative of Newfoundland hospitality after two weeks of touring Newfoundland.
