The Mighty Fraser Motel

The Staff! The lady that checked us in and working at Fat Jacks, was an absolute pleasure to meet! The food was great, huge portions, highly recommend, compliments to the cook! The motel is a motel and perfect for the price! The staff made this place a great place to stop!

We enjoyed staying at this motel.  The rooms are quite small, but they are perfect for an overnight stay.  The owners of the property are updating and renovating units.  The sleeping area of our unit has been renovated - with new paint, microwave, fridge and television.  The bathroom has yet to be done, so was a bit dingy.  The staff are quite friendly.  The restaurant serves up a decent meal.

I was amazed at the pleasant reception received by Mr. Yung and all the other good folks at this property. My room #22(?) was at the back, very quiet, and equipped with everything one could wish for. WiFi reception was perfect at the front of the property but, as expected, became "spotty" at the rear. Definitely a comfortable, safe, hassle-free place to stay for a night or more. 

I had stopped here for delicious meal last September and driven by the place a multitude of times. This time I was tired enough to get a room for the night. 

I phoned ahead in to see if they had anything available (there was nothing in Hope), it was more than I wanted to pay but less than the other options in Boston Bar. The man I talked to on the phone was delightful so I went in and was not disappointed. He gave me a complementary beverage and assigned me #21. The room is in the very back corner with a pathway to an amazing view around the back. 

The building has seen its fare share of time but is a welcome reprieve to a weary traveller. It has everything you could need, including a fridge, microwave, kettle, coffee maker (with coffee), toaster, hot plate, dishes, and pots and pans…not that you’ll need them because the food is enticing. There are thoughtful touches like dish soap, a hairdryer, a portable air conditioner, USB charging plugs by the bed, and even what appears to be controls to pre-warm the bed.  

Next time I’m tired on the road, I won’t hesitate to stop and rest here. It appears to be family run and I feel good about supporting an independent business that has survived Covid, fires, and landslides!

Above the historic Fraser river and  the railway. An amazing feat build that through the mountains along with the highway of many tunnels. Close Hell's gate an amazing jiint Usa/Canda project to save the salmon runs. History makes the trip more enjoyable but the nature is also quite spectacular.

Unique little spot along Trans Canada 1.  Buildings are a little run down but the rooms were nice and management was kind and efficient.

Was pleasantly surprised with this motel. Had everything we needed and more. Fridge, microwave, hot plate with pots and pans, A/C, fireplace and the bed was heated! We were hoping for at least a microwave but wasn't sure if there was one as it didn't say online on the list of amenities(Would recommend adding it to the list) We brought our own as we weren't sure and no one answered the phone to ask. Other than that everything was great and would stay there again.

The room was clean and cozy. The Fat Jack restaurant was very convenient to have meals while staying. Overall, it was a great staying at the motel.

Super Staff and Management!

Lovely!

We had 3 rooms for 6 people and was pleasantly surprised at the huge rooms, semi seperated front room and kitchen, and 2 bedrooms.  Clean, new linens.  One of the rooms had a smoker smell but was able to air out.  Highway noise was loud, but died down in the evening to nothing.  Owner treated us all to a beverage which was a very nice touch as well as texting us to have a safe journey.  We felt very welcomed.

Needed a place to stay for one night for 8 of us. Found this place. Picked it because of location, price and reviews and blankets shown on beds.
We were al really pleased with cleanliness of rooms, comfortable beds, clean showers for the price. 1 of the room had a bit of smokiness in it but a little airing out with door open, air conditioner and some essential oils helped dispel the smokiness.

Good choice

I needed a place to stay that was affordable and would put me within a couple hours of the ferries, plus had good food after driving all the way from Edmonton. The Mighty Fraser delivered great food and a well stocked bar.  The room was clean and comfy, but a tad more maintenance would help As the cold water tap on the sink didn't work.  Bed was comfy.  

Great food, good sleep

Rustic clean property where the owner takes pride in his property and makes sure that garbage is removed from the property.  We had a clean comfortable room in back of his Fat Jack's Diner.  We were away from Highway traffic... but had the lovely rumble of the trains behind us to lull us to sleep. Fat Jack's was a great place to enjoy a wonderful meal at the end of the day.

quiet retreat

The motel itself is rustic, no question about that. But it is clean, the bed is comfortable, the wifi works and there are 58 channels on the tv. It's the food at Fat Jack's that makes the Mighty Fraser stand out. It is exceptional. (Check out Alexandra Gill's review in the Globe and Mail.) The owner and chef's most recent gig was hosting those trendy undercover dinners for a select few in someone's house or apartment in Vancouver. In what is truly an enormous change of lifestyle, he is now running the Mighty Fraser and Fat Jack's (named after his father). The menu is remarkable as is the quality of the food (and the wine, locally sourced). If you  happen to be a tree planter in the Fraser Canyon, your culinary ship has come in! The rest of us will have to work a little harder to take advantage of what is on offer here.

If you are up for something different along with some excellent food and wine this is the place for you.
