The lady managing the place was fantastic! Though she couldn't communicate in English well, she tried to assist with what she could (like arranging a Tuk Tuk driver to the airport). The hotel is walking distance to many nearby Cambodian restaurants..the local dishes are quite similar to Thai food, with their version of Tom Yam soup. Super Tip: Cambodia is very hot day and night, also sandy (literally felt like a desert). You'll start sweating right after jumping out of the shower so stay hydrated to avoid a heat stroke. Do request and pay extra for the Air Conditioned room (don't take the fan room). Trust me, this will save your LIFE!! ...at least you won't stay up all night and will be well rested. Best way to travel around is via Tuk Tuk, this hotel is near Angkor Wat and the Phare (famed Cambodian circus show). After visiting the temples, I came back to the hotel and arranged with my Tuk Tuk driver to pick me up in the evening to watch the Phare show..you need to buy tickets from a Travel Agent so my Tuk Tuk guy helped me buy tickets on the way to the show. Just research average prices for Angkor Wat and other attractions before traveling to have an idea beforehand. It was cheaper for me to buy the Angkor Wat tickets myself (as I went for the 1-day ticket), negotiate with your Tuk Tuk driver for a day rate to visit all the temples. Once you land at the airport, there are many travel agencies offering Angkor Wat tours (ask their prices)...prices are alright but you can get a better deal by stepping outside the airport where many Tuk Tuks will swarm you. Now that you know what the tour agencies are charging you can negotiate. Best to deal with one driver alone as when they're in a group they get pushy. Walking away is a good strategy, 1 or 2 guys will definitely chase you down...then the real negotiations start. Do set aside some extra cash to tip your driver at the end of the day and don't pay him in full until you reach your last point (to be safe)...you could pay 30-40% first. They live hard lives and I met many honest people there, do appreciate them and stay smart when traveling. Not many people in Cambodia speak English but I was surprised how the middle-aged Tuk Tuk drivers knew basic English. I found speaking English here easier than in Bangkok, Thailand.
