good hotel next to the border, excellent service by hotel staff and  they like gamblers more than ordinary tourist, the room is old but clean enough to serve its function, the foods are cheap even in the casino we can order foods and they send to our table, if you need a stopping place for a good sleep, stay here

Holiday Palace is a great place if you're keen on gambling - in fact you can hop across the border to do so and hop right back without having to stamp any passports. It has a "duty free" section full of various types of alcohol where Thais and Chinese frequent. And there are plenty of slot machines galore. In an interesting study of contrasts, although Holiday Palace is still located in Cambodia, everything is quoted in Thai baht. You can pay with USD, but you will be invariably returned with change in THB. There is nothing much to do here except gamble - so don't expect the best of hospitality here. 

That said there are some positives. The panorama rooms are surprisingly well designed and have good views. And the breakfast buffet is not too bad, although the restaurant (and the hotel in general) has seen better days. 

Not the kind of place you'd want to stay for too long

We chose this place because we saw how nice it looked from the outside and it was late at night so we were desperate. We only needed it for one night to gather our lives together to go over and visit the bordering country, Thailand. The room was nice and clean. Restroom was clean. We stayed for one night. We also got an extra bed rolled in for an extra 500 baht. Bellboys and security were nice but the front desk lady could use some manners and maybe needs to find another job and possibly learn how to open her mouth and speak. Wifi was also not free. Breakfast was pretty good. Seems fresh and plentiful. The elevator did smell like smoke. Not sure if that's a normal for casino hotels. Overall, it was a peaceful night's rest.

1 night stay

Negative:

1. It took us 20 minutes to checked in because they are not organized and don't have guest list of the day even, though we showed them the booking confirmation.

2. I called for room service, group of waitress are laughing in like they are in the mountain.

3. The Wi-fi cost 600 thai baht and believe me they gave us one which is deleted from the system, the result i didn't used it.

4. We asked if we can extend our stay but the arrogant receptionist said that "you need check out, we fully book" with a sarcastic manner and unfriendly at all.

Positive:

1. Clean room and spacious.

Unprofessional staff

This is a big casino hotel with several restaurants and several hotel blocks. The room is passable in terms of cleanliness but everything else here is not what you expect from a hotel. Shady gambling clientele, corridors and elevators smell of smoke, bad mannered staff, room service as good as non existent and not even free internet. Stay if you are hopping borders and arrived here at the night with no other option but to stay at the border. Immigration office is 2 minute walk from here. Rats in the restaurants and casino area, bad bed and pillows and noisy air conditioning (sometimes faulty) make it even worse.

Bad Hotel

Through my work as a journalist I have stayed in many hotels around the world. The staff at Holiday Palace, probably gives you the worst service in the entire world! It was dirty, smelly underwear from another guest in my drawer! The rooms are dirty, the view is terrible, and if you don't want hot Asian breakfast, you can hardly find any bread at breakfast. Be aware that if you book a room in Holiday Palace, you may, like me, end up in the old hotel "Century Hotel", which is connected to Holiday Palace with a labyrinth of corridors. At check in they ask for 1000 Thai baht in deposit, even if the hotel is located in Cambodia. Cambodia SIM card had no connection in my room, only Thai cellular companys. Since Holiday Palace know that you can't use cellular data, they charge 600 baht (around 23 dollar) if you want WiFi. This is a totally rip-off! 10-12 GB cellular data cost 1 dollar in Cambodia. Stay away!

Dirty underwear as "welcome gift"

The Holiday Palace and Holiday Poipet are opposite each other and even though I booked direct through their website and received a reply, neither hotel could find my reservation. I ended up staying one night in an overpriced and unpleasant room. Both are casino hotels and that's the only reason anyone might be staying there. 
If you're a genuine tourist passing through, best to check out better value guest houses down the road away from the border area.
The websites for both these hotels are misleading for the current state they're in.
