White River 1 Hostel

White river guesthouse is known among the local expats as the place to be on street 172. Rooms are clean and for a good price. they won't rip you off. Not all rooms are as good as the next though, so barter if you're not happy with them. The staff will help you kindly only when called, but it's understandable, they work long hours. And the manager is very attentive. White river has a winning formula with good cheap rooms and good cheap food, except perhaps for the pizza.

Superb stay at White River rooms were amazing (I think they must have just been refurbished) as was service I will be back here next year. I cannot rate it highly enough and would recommend it to anyone to stay here 

The service was quick and the beer not foul this time,but merely tangy!
This is one of the few bars that has music, and the bar is large and has a good mural on one side.
I would not risk staying there after previous experience, but not a bad place to drink now.

Superb

Much improved from last time.

This guest house is not far from Royal Palace, it is near many restauranta and bars.
The room isnt comfortable, Air condition isnt work, bathroom is small and they dont fill shampoo, bathmilk,....and dont replace tower every day. No facilities such as: hair dryer, glass, wadrobe,....
Small parking and guest have to do every thing by themselve.

Very Bad experience

We just thought we would try the restaurant because the menu looked good and we were a bit over street food.We ordered the Hawaiian pizza and fresh spring rolls and 3 draught beers.Bill was $12US.The pizza was under cooked and had little meat on it but lots of cheese.The spring rolls were good and my husband liked the beers.Ha Ha.Good people watching spot with a ""BAR"" across the road with ladies coming and going and fighting.We wouldnt have eaten there again

Though advertised as having 24 hour reception,this guest house does not.There is no security or after hours access.There is one manager who oversees everything and you may find yourself locked outside on the street or locked inside when she decides to go out and if she is sleeping and you have to knock on the outside to wake her up after working be prepared for some verbal abuse.No fire escape,no fire prevention or safety protocol in place here.This guest house only cares about making money.Me and my partner were outside on the street one night around 1.30 am with no one to open the door.After around 20 minutes out on the street the manager appears to us coming from moonlight villa owned by the same people as white river with the manager and or no one available to open the door for us at white river.A guest house that does not care about the safety and well being of there customers..

Not a safe place,Eat at your own risk.

WORST in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
SUPER VERY BIG COCK ROACH is in my ROOM!!!!!!!
MOREOVER, Air conditioner is almost breaken and super very dirty. 
In Addition, NO CLEANING,  I lived in there for 5 days, however, hotel staff had never cleaned  that room!!!! 
Furethermore, Shower is very dirty.

WORST in Phnom Penh

I visited twice.
The first time I gave up waiting for service - they were there and just looking the other way.
The second time after a big effort I was served, but the beer was foul.
I did stop in the room over the bar once. There were so many things wrong that I could not list them.
The only way they will change is if they do not have any customers left.


Continues to be bad.

I specifically told the owner before I ordered my pasta dish to not add milk as “milk makes me sick, I’m allergic.” They continued to bring out a dish which contained milk and afterwards when I tried to say I couldnt have it they wanted me to pay for it. The man stood there and tried to argue with me for ages raising his voice and getting angry at me - his English was great so he fully understood what I was saying.

TRIED TO CHARGE ME FOR SOMETHING WHEN I TOLD THEM I WAS ALLERGIC

I arrived in Phnom Penh late via bus, around 3 am. Wandering the streets solo, exhausted, I couldn't find anywhere open; I stumbled upon this place and the lady at the desk was really nice and she showed me to my room, which was just two doors down from front desk. I won't get started on how filthy the place was, or how digusting the bathrooms were. I honestly just wanted a place to sleep for the night after a long day and night of bus rides from Bangkok. The part that affected me isn't easy to open up about but it needs to be said, and other female travellers need to be warned for these kinds of situations.
I was sexually assaulted in my room. 
I was exhausted and just in a hurry to change into pajamas and go to sleep. There was a window with drapes that were tied to the sides that I only noticed when I heard a voice, I looked and there was a Cambodian man staring through the window. I freaked out because I was nude, not yet changed into my pajamas. I screamed at him to go away, I tried to cover myself with a towel as I tried to close the curtains. They were knotted impossibly tight and I could not undo them with one hand, the other holding the towel against me. At the same time as I was huddled on the side of the wall, trying to hide from him while struggling with the curtains, he put his arm through the OPEN window, and his hand grazed my body as I kept screaming. I'm surprised noone heard me and came to check on the room, and I was only two doors down from front desk. The man did not leave even though I was crying and I screamed at him to go away. He spoke Cambodian to me and the only English words I kept hearing him say were, "I just want to hug you", and something about wanting me to let him come in. I got the curtain to come undone and managed to figure out how to close the window and the amount of time was a blur but eventually he left. Needless to say, I didn't actually get sleep that night. I got dressed, went to front desk, noone was there. The next morning when I checked out, I noticed even though this was an indoor guest house, that window looked out to a courtyard or alley of some sort. So that man may have been staying in an opposite building, or he was a worker or a resident, perhaps. When I checked out, there was a man at the front desk and I let him know the incident that took place. He actually had the nerve to chuckle and he did and said NOTHING. I was shocked. 
I felt sick writing this, as it has taken me some time to develop the courage to write this review, but no solo female traveller should ever have to face what I did, especially to be faced with the worst customer service as well.
