It's my first time visiting Cambodia and I needed a hotel that suits for solo traveler who has a tight budget.This hotel clearly fit my preference. I am not only amazed by how affordable the hotel is despite its location and how nice my room is.Very friendly staff and nice food. Perfect for a solo traveler like me. Definitely going back for another memorable stay.

Great Stay

2年前にとても快適に滞在させていただいて、是非再び訪れたいと思って宿泊しました。
宿泊前に確認したいことがあったのでなんどかメールしたのですが、今回は１通も帰ってきませんでした。
２泊の料金を払い、２泊目の夕方チェックアウトしましたが、部屋のクリーニングをしていただけませんでした。

スタッフは変わっていましたが、とても礼儀正しく親切で、それがとてもよかったです。

I stayed 2 years ago,
Confortable room, kindness staff, so I wanted to stay here again.

But  this time, I couln't feel same.
First, I send e-mail many times but I could never get response.
So I asked Tuk Tuk via my friend in Phonm Penh.
And I booked and paid 2 night.
But my room was never cleaned 2 days...

Meal was good,
and all staff were kindness, friendly, and politness it was not change before 2 years ago.
especially, Tuk- tuk driver VANNA is excellent!!
He always treats me to be safe.
I think he is one of the best driver in Canbodia.

I think it's a lil overprice, there has no free breakfast. Room is comfortable with everything you need, but the water speed in bathroom is so low I cannot take a bath with good feeling. There have only 2 plugs in in the room. I cannot find even a place for hair dryer.

The Hotel Marcau or Macau (the two names given to this hotel) is in a poor state. We stayed one night in this hotel and fortunately. The rooms are old, the decorations are old and not very clean. The photos in the hotel brochure do not match the reality at all. We paid $25 a night with breakfast which was also not very good. The breakfast banquets are stained and have probably never been maintained. The hotel has a free Wi-Fi connection but there is no safe in the rooms so we had to put our valuables in a locker.

What to Avoid

Ended up here when the Salita lost my reservation in the system, or sold my room when I arrived late. Room was a bit grotty but had everything you need except a view,would be OK for 1night if you can get a good rate.

On a group travel, this hotel was booked without consultation by the travel agent. Tried to put me in a small room (106 or 103) without even a window, and smelling like a latrine. The alternative room offered was 406 or 403 with exactly the same problem. In the half hour it took me to check the two rooms, the hotel was also rather noisy. Will never come back there.

Cancelled the booking and went to another hotel

We stayed there several times during May, cleanliness satisfactory, and even we were taken to the Diamond Palace Hotel when Macau was full.

Stay in Phnom Penh

The hotel is located towards the Tuol Sleng Museum (the museum about the abuses committed during the Khmer Rouge period) and not far from the Russian market. It is not the best place in Phnom Penh to stay but by using a dop motorbike or a tuc tuc one can quickly reach Riverside or the central market (10 min). The hotel rooms are relatively clean but no more. The bathroom joints are a little dirty and there were scents in the shower. But the bedding is just a short drive away and even if there is no high price to pay, you can see in every corner of the hotel a key office that does not say why you don't like breakfast but the hotel remains open for a few days.

A good hotel for

For those who want to stay longer or cheaper, it will also offer its interesting option... the market is nearby, the neighborhood is good. The city itself is boring.
