Grand Sihanouk Ville Hotel

Booked through Hotels.com, painless experience, all good. Check in fine, all monies received, no extras to pay. Room fine, AC, which was very quite and efficient, and TV worked great, balcony right size, with views over the pool. Wifi could be faster, a bit slow but it worked. Bathroom clean tidy. Room serviced/cleaned/bed linen changed every day (without having to ask). Room come with "blackout" curtains, to keep the sunlight out if you want to sleep "late", very useful.Room comfortable and quite. Staff all friendly and helpful. Hotel may have at some stage provided food/meals/drinks but not at the time I stayed. This is NOT a problem, just walk out hotel, turn right, right again at first junction, walk down and there in front of you are many bars/restaurants that will service your needs, it is just a three min. walk. .. Not a fault of the hotel, but just to advise that there is a lot of construction, hotels/hotels-casinos (seems all Chinese, as is much of Sihanoukville, these days) along Tola Street, paper, plastic heavens knows what lying all over the place, seems they don't clean up as they go. Please do not be put off by this, the hotel is just fine, strangely enough, despite the construction there is very little "noise pollution," at least during my stay As for rubbish etc., Cambodia compared, when I first went there some years ago, is becoming very untidy, especially in some of the bigger towns the amount of plastic pollution is amazing, in some case one cannot even see the grass because it is covered in discarded "plastic waste". The government and authorities can't cope with the "waste" which is sad I have always enjoyed Cambodia, and find the people most charming HOWEVER THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE HOTEL.
