Visoth Boutique

A delightful boutique hotel. The architecture is interesting and works well with the luxuriant gardens. Rooms are comfortable, roomy and stylish with artfully placed pottery and interesting objects. Painted white, the rooms are calming and restful. Each has a spacious balcony. The bathrooms are large and stylish too. We stayed in two rooms . One was at the rear of the hotel with a balcony overlooking an adjacent property. The outlook would not have been great, but there were plenty of plants providing a visual screen. The other room looked over the central garden and swimming pool. Garden view rooms carry a premium, although I'm not sure it would be worth paying the difference. (We were upgraded at no additional cost), There is a very nice dining area which opens to the swimming pool garden, although most is under cover inside the building. A small, well designed glass enclosure within the dining room is air conditioned. Breakfast is to order from a reasonably extensive menu. All food was of high quality and attractively served. So far so good. But what makes the place really special are the staff. As you return to the hotel, they welcome you with cold towels. As you leave the hotel at night they spray you with natural insect repellent. All of this is done with great charm, and a mention of your name. Mr Sokreach Leang on the front desk was exceptionally helpful. He arranged a driver and guide for Angkor Wat and other temples (both excellent); gave recommendations and made dinner reservations, gave information about the city and arranged our taxi back to Siem Reap. (Guides and drivers are vetted by the hotel, but the we were told that the hotel does not add a mark-up, as many hotels do). I was going on a birdwatching tour to an isolated part of Tonle Sap lake and was required to give an emergency contact. Mr Sukreach offered to let me use his personal number, even though the trip was on his day off. (Fortunately not needed). He was not at the hotel the day we left, but had sent a message bidding us goodbye. A lovely stylish hotel, made very memorable by the exceptional staff.
