Bénoua Lodge

Benoua Lodge is in a residential neighborhood just off a main road. The lodge is home to a popular restaurant which is busy every night. (I never ate at the restaurant, preferring instead to go to different nearby local restaurants along the main road.) There are 6 or 7 rooms around the border of the restaurant courtyard, and room #8 is in a separate, adjoining courtyard. The first few nights I stayed in room 8. It is private and quiet, and has its own patio with a fan, which I really liked. However it is also on a separate internet connection from the main lodge which is very poor. In addition the lodge's generator is in the same courtyard, so if the city power goes out (and it will) #8 goes from being very quiet to very, very, VERY loud. My last night I stayed in room #3, in the main lodge area. The rooms are separated by a hedge from the restaurant area, so there is some visual privacy, though it is a bit noisy. On the plus side, the internet worked very well in room #3.

One additional thing to note--the breakfast is not included in the price, and it is (comparatively) very expensive considering that all you get is juice, coffee, bread, and butter. If you have the time, skip the breakfast and wander out to the main road to get an omelette sandwich and cafe au lait. 

Overall the rooms were clean and pleasant (with aircon, ceiling fan, window screens, and plentiful hot water), the staff is friendly, and--in the main lodge at least--the internet worked well. I would stay here again.

Not only a great place to stay, a great place to eat as well!
Professional, friendly and secure place to visit.
Sorry but keep your large hotels this is the way to go.
Don't be put off by condition of immediate road.
Book early as rooms numbers limited.

Cool Place

The guest lodge offers almost everything a traveler needed, either for long or short staying.  The food is particularily good and staff are all friendly. I have stayed for almost a week so far and going to stay for entire a month too complete my business trip. I actually moved out from a luxury appearing hotel due to terrible food and little facility problems here and there. I'll certainly stop by this place next time in town and will recommend this place to my colleagues. I have zero French to get around in Ouaga, Michelle and Mariann (I can only call their names in closest English form) helped me on everything i needed. Francis

a great place for a traveler

I stayed here for 2 nights, I travel to Ouaga often and have stayed also in other B&Bs. This time I chose Benoua Lodge, cause I have friend who just moved to the same  neighbourhood and like to stay walking distance from them.
The room was very nice, the finishing perfect, clearly done to European standards, especially the bathroom was impeccable. 
I think breakfast is a little small, one tiny piece of butter, not sure I'd get ask more if I asked. 
The restaurant has nice food, and sitting at the bar was fun, chatting to the friendly young staff.
I would certainly recommend the place and intend to stay here again.

Great place, lovely garden, cool bar

My husband and I had a lovely dinner at this hidden restaurant on a recent October night. It lived up to its reputation: my braised eggplant (stuffed with tomato and eggs), the lotte tail, as well as my husband's couscous, were both delicious and came in very generous portions. So much so that I could not finish my lotte. The creme brulee was perfect. We enjoyed the warm atmosphere in the candle lit garden, and a very decent open wine. Service was a bit lackadaisical, but that's nothing new for Ouagadougou, and the staff was definitely friendly. So was the owner, who came in person to explain to me the contents of the braised eggplant. Will visit again for sure!
