Via Pontica Hotel

Booked to stay in a family room for myself, mother and my 2 kids aged 12 & 10. Having read the reviews saying the hotel had been refurbished we had good expectations. However, our family room (which we later learned were not part of the refurbishment!) was of a very poor standard; heavily stained carpet (mould?), plug socket hanging off the wall in the bedroom, chips under the sofa bed etc... So I complained to our TUI rep who arranged for us to move to 2 twin rooms next to each other, which were absolutely lovely and this changed our whole holiday experience. Very clean and a joy to stay in :) The restaurant served a good array of food and even my fussy son opted to stay and eat at the hotel rather than venture out for pizza (saved us some money!). The resort itself is approx. 5 mins away in taxi to Pomorie Town which is good to visit. But other than that there is not too much to do outside of the hotel apart from visit the beach. One thing to be aware of is that you are almost abandoned when dropped off after transfer. You are told in very broken English where to go, but when you are tired and hot you don't appreciate this! However the hotel manager was very apologetic when we finally turned up, sweating and frustrated!!! Overall I would recommend the hotel as the food & pools are good and the staff friendly. But if you are wanting to be in a more upbeat area this is perhaps not the place to be.
