Great villas right beside white bay! Not too fancy but who cares these have what you need and are perfect for a short getaway to Jost Van Dyke. The staff there is excellent and everyone goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable! Will stay again when on island!

We had such a wonderful week away at White Bay Villas! The best 10 year anniversary gift to each other! The rental was welcoming, clean. Had absolutely amazing reviews. The staff was amazing. We loved chatting w/the owner and hanging w/his sweet pup!

My wife and I spent seven days at White Bay Villas. We were in Villa #3 in the Paradise Villas at the top of the hill with spectacular views. This was our first time staying on Jost Van Dyke and the first time at WBVs. We found the villa to be clean and well-maintained and the perfect size for the two of us. The grounds are well-manicured, and the wandering goats are always entertaining. The staff at WBV are incredible and very customer-service-focused. Maria was fantastic and answered all our many questions with a smile. If we needed anything – snorkeling gear, directions, ferry schedules – Maria was there to help. And every morning, one of the staff came by and asked if everything was okay or if we needed anything.

We had our villa provisioned before we arrived. We used Riteway Provisioning on Tortola. They picked out all the groceries, shipped them over on the ferry, and Maria and the team put them away in our villa. It was great to arrive at a fully stocked villa. That said, if we had it to do over again, we’d buy far less food. We had way too much. Given the proximity and easy access to beach bar food, we ate out (often in late afternoons) every day. So, we weren’t hungry and didn’t feel like making dinners when we got back to the villa. We would have been fine with some light breakfast and snack food and, of course, copious amounts of Caribs and rum.

The villas all face westerly, which is great for seeing amazing sunsets. However, if you return to your villa in the late afternoon expecting to sit on your deck with a cold one, you may be disappointed, especially if you’re sunburned. The late afternoon sun blazes into the small porch, and without a lot of air movement, it gets pretty hot. Adding a retractable semi-transparent shade would be an excellent addition to make the porch more usable in late afternoons. But once the sun gets low or behind a cloud, it's a perfect place to view the world.

The only other issue we had was understanding the walkability of the area. The villa sits on a high hill between White Bay and Great Harbor. When we booked the villa, we inquired about walking to the beach on White Bay (Alice’s, Soggy Dollar, etc.) and to Great Harbor (Foxy’s, Corsair’s, etc.), and we were told yes, it’s possible to walk to both. So, we rented a car for just one day to explore the island, thinking we would walk to the beach and restaurants the rest of the time. 

From the villas at the top of the hill, there is a wide switchback path to the White Bay beach and a paved road to Great Harbor. We’re in our late 50s and in average shape for people our age. On our first day, we walked down the hill to the beach. Upon our arrival at the beach, I promptly got on the phone and added the car rental for the entire week. Since the car rental wouldn’t start until the next day, we hiked back up the hill after our first day at the beach, and unless you’re in your 20s or you run marathons, we wouldn’t recommend it. That hill is no joke. Rent a car; you’ll be glad you did.

And just a quick word about that… we rented the car through Paradise Jeep Rentals and worked with Nadine. She was fantastic to work with and brought our car right to our door the next morning. We rented a Suzuki Jimny, which, for Jost, is the perfect car for two people to get around.

Having the car made it easy to get down to the beach, where we had access to Alice’s and Ivan’s Stress Free Bar (I highly recommend the fish tacos!) Having a private beach in front of Alice’s with access to lounge chairs, floaties, paddle boards and kayaks was a fantastic perk that comes with renting at WBVs. Also, the east side of White Bay is the quiet side, so it's nice to have that option when you want it.

The car also made it easy to get over to the Soggy Dollar Bar, Hendo’s and Gertrudes – the busy side of White Bay where all the charter boats anchor. We rented the villa from Tuesday to Wednesday the following week, and what we learned watching all the charter boats come in and out of White Bay is that Saturday and Sunday are the slow days at the beach bars. So, if you like some people but do not want a Disney World-like experience, target your visit to the Soggy side of the bay for the weekend.

When we booked our time on Jost, we were a bit worried that we might be bored after vacationing on St. John, USVI several times, Tortola and a few other islands. But that was not the case; we were never bored. Once we had the car, we were able to take easy, short rides to the bars, restaurants and shops in White Bay and Great Harbor. We took a day trip across the north side of the island along a dirt but well-maintained road all the way to Foxy’s Taboo and the Bubbly Pool on the east side of the island. The road, at times, was quite steep, but in four-wheel drive, that little Suzuki was a champ. There is a wonderful view of Great Harbor from the top of the mountain that is worth the drive. And Foxy’s Taboo and the Bubbly Pool don’t disappoint.

We rented a dingy for a day based on a recommendation from Maria. If you’re comfortable captaining a small boat and operating an outboard motor, we highly recommend it. We took the dingy to Sandy Cay and Sandy Spit and stopped by the B-Line Bar (highly recommended for a total off-the-path beach bar experience) and Foxy’s Taboo again. All on the east side of the island.

I’ll take a quick detour from the perfection of Jost to say there is one not-so-awesome part… and that is the no-see-ums. We got bit up every day, primarily from the knees down, but on our trip to Sandy Cay, the biting bugs (which we couldn’t see) were so bad that we had to leave. Maria and the team provide bug spray in the Villas, so make sure you put that on for every trip outside the villa, especially when visiting the beaches.

Now, back to awesome… the people on this island… just wonderful. Besides Maria and the staff at the White Bay Villas, we met a lot of great people—our captains on the Dolphin Water Taxi, Baba, founder of Ali Baba’s, Randy part owner (with his sister) of the Tipsy Shark, the Detroit bartender at Corsair’s, the employee at Foxy’s that cut us a huge leaf from an Aloe Vera plant behind the bar for our sunburn, the Jordanian young man behind the counter at Rudy’s Marketplace (didn’t get his name, but super helpful) and Rebecca at the Boutique. And many, many fellow travelers, all looking for their little piece of paradise, even if it's only for a week.

One other very unique thing happened while we were on the island. At dusk one night, Space X launched a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida. The trajectory of the launch took it right over JVD. So, if you’re wondering about the strange angel-like fog hovering over White Bay in one of my pictures, that’s the cloud that the rocket launch produced—really quite an amazing sight.

Lastly, I’ll say there are levels of “chill,” and Jost Van Dyke provides the highest level of chill in the VIs. If you’re the type of person, couple or family that has to always be on the go and seeing something new every day, this is probably not the place for you. But if you’re looking for the chillest vibe in the VIs, great food, great drink and wonderful people, well… welcome to paradise. And White Bay Villas is a great place to rest your head for a week in heaven.  We will definitely be back!

This was a bucket list trip for me, as my wife and I went to St. Thomas on our honeymoon 29 years ago but never made it over to the British Virgin Islands.  I discovered White Bay Villas by accident when I was researching places to go in the BVIs.  It looked amazing, and the YouTube videos about White Bay looked even better.  This place was incredible!  We stayed in one of the Paradise Villas atop the hill and the views were spectacular.  We could see all of White Bay and St. John looked close enough to touch.  It was very private and we didn't hear anyone else during our time there.  

From the moment we were met at the ferry, to check in, to questions during the week, everyone was SO NICE!  Maria was so patient with all my questions and requests.  A special thanks to Bruno for shuttling us around all week, and to Larry for getting up early on our last day to take us to the ferry.  The grounds are immaculate, with pretty flowers and plants throughout the property.

We ate at Alice's one night, and the pizza was excellent.  We spent most of our time "over the rocks" in front of the Soggy Dollar bar area, as we like to people watch and it was more lively at that end of the beach.  Remember to bring some type of water shoes to wear, as the path down to the beach and over the rocks can be tricky in flip flops.  The path to the beach was easy to navigate but can be steep going back up after a few Painkillers! 

We did not rent a car, but in hindsight I wish we would have as it would have given us more flexibility.  We took the Wednesday ferry day trip to Virgin Gorda and it was well worth it, so I recommend this if you want to get off Jost Van Dyke for the day or drive to Great Harbour and visit Foxy's or other establishments there.  Bring lots of cash (more than you think you will need) as you can go through it pretty quickly and there are no ATMs on JVD.

Overall, a wonderful week at White Bay Villas, and I'm already planning on going again in 2 years.  Thanks to the staff for making this a great week!

A great week and bucket list experience at White Bay Villas

My wife and I first stayed at White Bay Villas in 2007 for our honeymoon.  Since then, we've returned three times, most recently a couple of weeks ago.  Each time, we stay in the same Hillside Villa as with our first trip.  The experience is outstanding and has only gotten better over the years, especially with the addition of the beach club on White Bay (Alice's).  Jost Van Dyke is a different kind of vacation destination and visitors will have a wonderful time if you are familiar with its conditions and how to navigate them on your trip.  (The island is lightly developed with adult restaurants and beach bars, is hilly, necessitating a rental car, which I recommend, or regular use of the taxis.)  The White Bay staff is extremely helpful in assisting guests with these issues and the other logistics.  The villas are perfect and the housekeeping staff attentive.  Each time as we leave, we begin to think about the next time we can come.

We'll definitely keep coming back

Where do I even start! White Bay Villas is a little slice of heaven on earth! My family of 6 (husband and I and our four kids ages 21/19/18/17) spent 4 magical nights at Sunset Villas East and West. It was the perfect amount of space for my family. The VIEWS are truly what you see in the photos and more! 

The staff at WBV are amazing. Amy/Maria/Lucy were so helpful and did everything to make our stay enjoyable...thank you ladies! The beach at WBV is truy breathtaking from the white sand beach to the most beautiful crystal blue water I've ever seen. There are paddleboards, kayaks and comfortable lounge chairs availble for use and beach towles avialble in the Villa for guests. Staff brought snorkle gear to our villas for us to use upon request. We saw 3 sea turtles along with tropical fish wile snorkling right off the beach!
 
We had several meals at the new Alice's Restaurant. We highly recommend!  We also took a daily walk to the Soggy Dollar for several frozen Bushwackers, had a great meal at Foxy's and a wonderful breakfast at the Tipsy Shark. 

We did not rent a car, we didn't missed having one. There was always a taxi to bring us back and forth from were we were - even with our large family!  We did get some food delivered before hand to have when we got to the villa, mostly breakfast items, snacks and drinks. There was a small store at the harbour were we went to get a couple of items when we needed them. 

One note, the road down to the beach is steep..at least for me! My kids didn't have any issue with it but for me, I was down once a day and up once a day but worth every step - especially with beautiful vistas along the way:)

If you are thinking, should I book? Do it...you will not be disappointed!  This is a special place...it was tough place to leave...we will most certainly be back!  

Family Getaway

Talk about the most beautiful place on earth!  White Bay villas was outstanding.  The staff are incredible and always around to help answer questions and even give you a ride if needed!  Alices’s (the restaurant) was so good and you get to hang out with Teddy (the owners dog).  

The room was lovely and what a view of White Bay.  We travel a lot and I can easily say, this was the best vacation yet.  Cannot wait to return.

Most Beautiful Place on Earth

We stayed with White Bay Villas for the first time and I would recommend them to absolutely anyone! The staff was incredibly kind and helpful, they even arranged a ride for us to and from the ferry dock. The villa was clean, spacious and fully stocked with just about any beach necessity you could think of. We were also very impressed with their beach club, Alice’s. It was only an 8 minute walk using the path from the villas and their food was amazing (highly recommend the pizza). We’re already looking forward to our next trip!

Will be back

We were fortunate to return to Jost Van Dyke and stayed (once again) at White Bay Villas, this time choosing Paradise Villa, and our friends were right next door.  We (two couples) spent four wonderful nights on the island before heading to St. John to continue our adventure.  Looking back, we definitely wished we could have extended our stay on JVD.  But hey, there's always a next time!

The Villas were impeccable, clean and well-maintained.  The AC worked flawlessly, providing a cool place to retreat to after being at the beaches on the island all day.  And speaking of the island, the views from the Villas were simply breathtaking.  The walk down (and up!) to White Bay was an enjoyable experience we won't forget.

On the "Soggy Side" of White Bay, a visit to Soggy Dollar Bar for a few painkillers was an absolute must.  Hendo's Hideout also left a lasting impression with their amazing food, so we found ourselves going back a few times.  Gertrude's was another gem on our list.  On the other side, which we dubbed "Ivan's Side", Ivan's Stress Free was an essential stop.  We also had some delicious meals at Alice's a few times.  The pizzas, especially the chef's choice, were simply fantastic.  And of course, we took the opportunity to walk (though maybe not as often uphill!) to Great Harbour.  We enjoyed Corsairs and Tipsy Shark, for breakfast, but our absolute favorite was Foxy's. A special shout out to Reuben and Dean at Foxy's for making our experience so memorable.

But you know what truly sets Jost Van Dyke apart?  The people!  They are the heart and soul of the island, welcoming, helpful, and genuinely interested in ensuring every visitor has a perfect time.  And speaking of hospitality, Lucy at White Bay Villas deserves a special mention.  Her friendliness, positivity, and attentiveness were unmatched.  From the moment we made our reservation, to the time we arrived on the island, and even after we departed, Lucy was there, making our stay extraordinary.  We can't thank her enough!

All in all, our trip to Jost Van Dyke was nothing short of amazing, and we are so looking forward to our next visit. 🌴🌞🍹😎

Summer Stay at White Bay Villas, Jost Van Dyke

For background, this was our 5th time staying at White Bay Villas on Jost Van Dyke. From ease of booking, to the latest travel and logistics info the team provides, to the actual stay, it has always been a great experience. The value is second to none (look at these views) and the flexibility of choosing from one bedroom all the way up to 4 bedroom villas depending on the size of your group makes it hard to beat. We stayed in the Palms Villa (formerly Plantation) and it was perfect for our group of 7.

This was the first time we had visited since the Beach Club opened, which was a nice place to grab a beach chair and a drink, or use the SUPs and kayaks available to guests.

We'll definitely be back, and can't wait to see what new additions the WBV team comes up with in the meantime.
