My partner and I had a great time in the Pousada Riacho Doce. Even though it was low-season, weather and atmosphere were on the high. As we were travelling north from Rio we decided to stop in Maceio for a night. The pousada was in a really good location and, most importantly, on the beach so... we ended up staying for 4 nights! We loved our "host" Luca, his wife and kid. Rather than any other place, we felt more like we were visiting friends as they helped us out in organizing our trip and provided support in visiting local beaches and natural swimming pools. The highlight of our holiday were the caipirinhas (a bargain!) and the food. Luca is a great cook and his lobsters with pasta were delicious - no need for any fancy restaurants (get the lobsters grilled too!). The room was clean, comfy and just right by the beach: we could hear the waves at night time and during our afternoon siesta. Overall a great experience, the other guests were politely and we enjoyed few evenings all together eating, drinking and... swimming!
