Hotel Via Serena

If you like huge, elaborate hotels with hundreds of rooms, this place is not for you. Everything else about Via Serena was outstanding. The location is between the resort towns of Gramado and Canela, which made traveling to either one all the more convenient. The small rooms feature comfortable beds, bathrooms, linens and windows that actually open to the street below. WIFI was sketchy but free, and I've never had dependable WIFI in Brazil no matter what price I paid at any hotel. Our room had a small refrigerator, hairdryer, and extra beds even though we did not request them. Free parking is provided securely away from the street area. Our room rate included Cafe de Manha (breakfast) which was above and beyond what you'd normally expect from a continental-style meal. Meats, cheeses, juice, freshly-made cakes and torts, breads, jams, cereal, fresh fruits and much more made this complimentary meal feel like a really special bonus. The staff is outstanding. Helpful in every way you can imagine. Each person took a special interest in making sure we had everything we needed and seemed to truly enjoy their work of serving guests. I'd return to Via Serena in a heartbeat. We loved the local attractions, but our favorite thing to do was to simply relax in our lovely surroundings
