Pousada Porto das Barcas

We had a little difficulty finding the pousada, but it was one of the best pousadas I stayed at in my recent two week trip to Brazil. The staff was extremely friendly, with great wifi. They helped us arrange a taxi to catch our early bus out of town. They even got up early to make us an excellent early breakfast so that we could have a bite to eat before out early bus ride out of town. They went above and beyond. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a place to stay in Parnaiba.

Great little pousada

Hotel very basic. The room was without mosquito net Thought the hotel is situated on the river. There were at least 15 mosquitos when I put the light on in the mid of the night.
Beside Hotel attendants very nice and helpful, at least they tried to, nobody speaks english.
Breakfast very basic but ok.
Note: it's a Special Place because of its location, and the Owner taste for brocantage, furnitures, it is a Place To see. 
Internet is only at the reception and very weak signal.



Stop over Parnaiba

This pousada is located on the riverfront next to the bridge over the river.  It’s within what looks like the old warehouses when the river was a major port in the area.  The buildings have all been converted into souvenir shops, restaurants, bars and other shops as well as the pousada, and they have all been tastefully restored and painted.  The pousada is surprisingly large but there aren’t many rooms and ours was pretty basic.  The shower was a problem starting out with warm water with ok pressure but ending with cold water barely dribbling out.  There is a long wide corridor leading from reception to a large dining area and a courtyard with grass and plants.  The walls of the communal areas were covered in art although not really my thing.  The floor of the room and dining area was made stone and was very dusty.  There was a large door in our room that would have opened to the alley but it was locked.  The upper part of the door could open and was the only source of direct sunlight and air.  The breakfasts were pretty bad consisting of a bread roll, ham and cheese. But the biggest problem was the noise, firstly from the owner switching on the TV at 6am then the staff and maintenance people who decided that was the best time to start repairing the roof (which including tossing the ceramic tiles onto the floor of the lounge area).  Overall it is a pleasant place but go elsewhere for breakfast and wear earplugs.
