Hostel 70

Natalia and her team were the best hosts we could have in Brumadinho!

The place is very nice. We had a private room and bathroom very clean and confortable.

Very convenient and central. 

The hosts were very friendly and helpful!

Best hosts ever!

Very kind, helpful and flexible hosts at the front desk
Breakfast could be better (there was ham and bread but no cheese or a sandwich maker, coffee but not milk or tea, no cereal, juice or fruit...)
10 bed room is too narrow, it worth to pay a few reais more to be on a 6 bed dorm.
They offer the transport service to Inhotim for a good price.

Basic but not bad

We visited Hostel 70 in early June and booked the private room and bathroom. The hostel is basic, clean and perfectly located to Inhotim (5 min drive). Natalia the owner was very welcoming and made our stay pleasant. Our room and bathroom was very simple but it was private and had a door that locked and that's really all we needed for the night. Plus their wifi worked great. They even offer a simple continental breakfast in the morning (coffee/juice/bread/cheese). One suggestion for Natalia - she should serve pao de quiejo for breakfast because we were told that Minas Gerais has the best one in all of Brazil. It originated there and would add a local touch for visitors. :)

For guests expecting a motel or hotel level accommodation, this is a hostel. So expectations should match that of one. Expect to meet and interact with other guests in the shared common areas and depending on the room you have, you have to share the space. The hostel is walking distance to supermarkets, banks, restaurants and cafes. It is a small town so there is one main strip and the locals were all very friendly. We also liked that Natalia could arrange transport and transfers (to/from airport and Inhotim) and made good local recommendations of cafes/restaurants, etc so even though it's a hostel, we appreciated that added service and convenience very much. 

Initially we were planning to stay two nights because were were told it would take 2 days to properly see everything at Inhotim. But actually we were able to get to the park right when it opened and finished everything in one day in a very leisurely way. Because there was not much to do really in Brumadinho we opted to leave that night and visit Rio. Overall I recommend Hostel 70 as a simple & basic overnight place to lay your head knowing your ultimate destination is Inhotim.

Basic and Cute - good for one night visit, very close to Inhotim

not a great hostel, but is always full because its one of the ony options in Brumadinho. The rooms are very small, so the beds are as close at is can get (it can be very uncomfortable for lonely travelers). Also, the bathroom is outside, in the garden, so in got very dirty and muggy. in the top of that, my shower was cold, awful. The kitchen is very small, but the living room is nice and the staff is very sympathetic. The breakfast is very good for a hostel.
