Pousada Convés Ilha Grande

You know this is the place to be when return customers from other pousadas come here to eat. Simone’s cuisine is exquisite. The traditional dishes (options for all kinds of diets) island flair and every dish served family style satisfies even the pickiest of eaters. Marcos (bless him) made sure we had everything we needed. We were made to feel comfortable and welcomed the entire time. Considering we traveled with two little ones (ages three and five) the amount of personalized service we got was truly appreciated. Marcos, along with Pedro, and the owners son made us feel like we were extended family. Gloria who was in charge of the accommodations does an impeccable job keeping the place spotless. Our little ones kept walking into dining without their shoes and I finally gave up trying to get them to wear shoes because there was not a single thing on the dining room floor at anytime. Before we arrived we were able to get great recommendations from Pousada Conves on transport from Rio to Angra dos Reis Santa Lucia Port and the company of the flex boat, Natiga, to bring us directly to the Pousada deck from the mainland. We also booked a boat tour for each day we stayed on the island with Gabriel who they also recommended. We had a sea view room. The tv’s worked and we were able to use Netflix for the kids (just once because there is no reason to be watching tv surrounded by so much beauty.) you can swim off the dock and also find many different fish and wildlife if you wanted to snorkel. Paddles and other water gear is available. The main center is just a five minute walk but we didn’t really bother. We walked 10 minutes to a cute beach the first night with the kids which made us appreciate our new environment. The Pousada is positioned nicely near the green lagoon and many other famous beaches such as Dentist beach and a great snorkeling spot called Botinas. We cannot wait to come back to Conves and will miss our many new friends that we’ve made.
