Hostel Vagabond

Stayed in room 7 for 3 nights.

The hostel is located in a converted apartment block very close to the historic centre of Sarajevo. The front entrance can be really easy to miss, but the building is literally opposite the Museum of Crimes Against Humanity and Genocide. Entry is via a keypad PIN, but the staff can also buzz you in. The reception is up two flights of stairs and there’s no lift. Check-in was quick and I had to pay at the hotel because that’s the way it worked. Luckily, the hostel does accept credit card payments, which was great as I didn’t have enough cash in hand anyway.

My dorm was Room 7, on the 3rd and top floor. The room  was a converted attic and had 3 bunk beds. Each bed has a designated locker large enough to fit a very big backpack, although you will need your own padlock. Each bed had an electrical socket and a night light. The bed had a good mattress, a large pillow and a super comfortable blanket. The beddings, the room and most of my floor smelled fresh. I slept beautifully every night of my stay.

Our floor has two shower rooms and two toilets, all as separate rooms. The shower rooms are small, about double the size of a typical person. The showers worked well and there was no problem getting hot water. The toilet rooms were fine. The taps only had cold water in there, so I had to shave in the shower or over the kitchen sink.

The hostel also has a kitchen, common area, cooking utensils, cups, plates and a fridge.

Location wise, the hostel is about 5 minutes walk into the historic centre of Sarajevo and pretty much anything worth seeing in the city is within 20 minutes walk. There’s an endless array of cafes, restaurants, museums, bakeries and supermarkets all around the hostel as well.

The staff here are super, friendly and helpful. Overall, I had a fantastic stay here and would not stay anywhere else in Sarajevo.

Friendly and Convenient Hostel

The hostel was in a very Central location, it was clean and modern, the rooms were comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful when needed. I would highly recommend a stay here to anyone who is looking for accommodation in Sarajevo.

A nice place to stay

We had a fantastic experience staying at Hostel Vagabond, it was in the center of the city within walking distance of everything in Sarajevo. The staff at the hostel are incredibly friendly, and the breakfast each morning is delicious! Will definitely stay here again.

Had an amazing experience at Vagabond, the owners and workers were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The location is perfect to fully immerse yourself in the culture of Sarajevo. And make sure to do the tours with Haris, and extremely friendly and endlessly informative man with a passion for history! The perfect tour guide!

Amazing People, location and Tours

I felt at home at Vagabond. The staff makes you feel comfortable and at home. The breakfast is plenty and delicious. The beds are one of the comfiest I have ever seen and you also get a free towel. Staff is available 24/7 and the Latin American volunteers are specially friendly!

Great hostel in the centre of Sarajevo

You get what you pay for. Staff are friendly. It’s was generally clean. Mattress and bedding could do with a bit of an update. Location was spot on. Breakfast I would give a skip. Showers/toilets are fine.

Grand won’t love it won’t hate it

Me and my friends stayed here for 4 nights, it was one of 13 hostels we stayed in, and I can honestly say it was by far the best one of them all. This is such a social hostel, we met so many really really great people from so many different parts of the world and got to know each other so well! We hung out in the common room loads and even went out and visited places together and when the sad day came when we had to leave, we exchanged contact details and we've kept in touch.

Really good breakfast every morning, very close to all the tourist attractions and literally right next to the old town! I really can't fault this place at all, it's awesome.

Absolutely amazing

Best location ever, close to everything you need (supermarkets, banks, exchange houses, museums, restaurants, bars). The hostel is super clean and the staff is always willing to help you with everything you need (they have amazing tours as well). Common area is super comfortable, breakfast is included and you can even store your luggage upon check out, completely recommend it!

Awesome stay in Sarajevo!

Vagabond hostel was such a delight in the heart of Sarajevo. The location truly can’t be better as it was walking distance to all the city’s highlights. Very clean and the staff was so friendly and helpful with suggestions of things to do in and around the city. I definitely recommend the Tunnel Tour that the hostel offers. The tour guide, Haris, survived the siege of the city and offers a very personal view of the war but somehow is able to make the tour fun and upbeat at the same time. All around a great experience. 

Clean, friendly staff, great location!

I was 2 weeks in the hostel. It is so well located that I went everywhere on foot. Aida and Maya are very sweet and the rest of the staff too. The histel is cozy comfortable, clean and spacious. I left because I had a commitment, otherwise I would have stayed longer.
