The hotel staff were all very pleasant and accommodating. Wifi was a bit stop start. Very close to all the restaurants in town. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was outstanding. Recommend

Hotel staff were great and helpful

Here is our experience with Perla del lago, and why we would not recommend you to stay here. We arrived late, 10 PM, and after a bit of negotiating with the receptionist got 2 nights for 350 bolivianos, including breakfast, which was mentioned to be from 7.30. Next morning the manager told us breakfast was not included in our stay, and that we surely should pay more than the 350 for the two nights. We tried to explain that last night the receptionist had given us this price, including breakfast, which we had accepted, and that we would surely expect breakfast and not accept an suden price increase. It all ended with the manager getting furious for us not accepting defeat, and ordered us out of the room, as he needed it for other guests. We thought it was a bit drastic and offered him to pay for the night, 175 bolivianos, but he declined and just said he didn't want us in the hotel, and told us to leave immediately. Obviously we were quite surprised by this behavior, but saw no other choice than to pack our stuff and move into another hotel. We gave him the key, wished him a great day and left. 

So, we thought this was the end of it, but suddenly later that morning the receptionist from last night had found us and demanded us to pay for the night. We clearly told him no since his manager had just thrown us out and had declined our payment. The unfortunate thing was that he didn't stop harassing us, he proceeded to tell everyone that we had run away from the hotel without paying, he even followed us in a minibus ride, and told the driver and all the passengers. Luckily we ended up getting rid off him but found this method very absurd and humiliating. What kind of hotel would deny a price given by the receptionist, blame and even kick out the customer, instead of keeping this affair intern. Please avoid this hotel!

Harassment and bad management

We only stayed one night on our way to La Paz ; the place is fine that is it. However the wi-fi was weak in our bedroom (didn't work from the bed) we had to go close to the door or down at the reception. Good location, very central and close to the sea.

Between ok and good

After some time, I went back to Copacabana to stay at the Hotel Perla del Lago and now it is the first Copacabana hotel with elevator, how about that?
Of course, Walas is on charge of the management of the hotel and he is still making his job in really helpful kind way. 

Copacabana first hotel with an elevator. 

We stayed in Copacabana for one night after touring Lake Titicaca and the Perla del Lago Hotel gave us a discounted rate for being Bolivia Hop Bus Travellers. It is a really nice Hotel that is a little bit away from all the hustle and bustle of the Main Street and the beach. Very quiet and our room was quite spacious and very comfortable. We got a pretty good breakfast, but we did have a problem with the hot water when we wanted to use the shower. It wasn’t cold, but it also wasn’t very hot. Our room was also on the second floor and with no elevator we had to climb a few sets of stairs. It did look like they were in the process of installing an elevator, however for our visit the stairs were our only option. We did have a few communication problems with the staff but we were able to get what we needed and they were all very nice and friendly. We would definitely recommend this lovely Hotel in Copacabana if you don’t need a beachfront location and would rather have a quieter location. We felt we also got a really good value for what we paid. 

Good Economy Hotel

We were the only guests during our 1 night stay at Perla del Lago. We booked through Bolivia Hop a private room for 2 (ended up being the 1st room on the 1st floor). The room was big, with 2 beds, a table, and chairs. While the hotel was cold, like many in Bolivia, the manager gave us a portable heater. The shower was very hot, with excellent water pressure. It did take a bit to start draining properly but worked great once it did. We had a pleasant breakfast, with eggs, bread, cereal, yogurt, and fruit, as well as juice, mate and coffee. The dining room could have been cleaner - I wondered why it was so dirty since we were the only guests!! What really made the stay, though, was the manager. He was incredibly friendly and helpful, always available to answer our questions. The hotel is on a side street, and we were in the back so it was fairly quiet, although there was a club nearby that pumped out music all night long (we could hear it, but it wasn't too loud).
