We arrived earlier than check in time at 12. We started of with asking if it was possible to check in earlier or if we could leave our bags and come back later. The guy in the desk showed us to the room and we paid for one night at the same time. Wich was nice since we had a long bus ride the night before and just wanted to rest instead of strolling around Sucre, waiting to check in. The room itself was not that nice. It had two beds that weren't comfortable and you could feel and hear the springs in the mattress. Behind the beds were lamps and behind my friends bed there was an exposed wire. When he tried to turn the lamp on there was a large bang and a flash. Lucky none of us came in contact with the wire. There were no hot water in the showers even if they advertised there was. The wifi was on and off during our stay and most of the time it couldn't load a YouTube video of the lowest quality. The bathrooms did provide toilet paper but barely any soap and no towels were provided.When it was time for check out the guy at the front desk said we needed to pay for our stay. When we had already paid. He then said that we needed to pay for a full night since we checked in early. We tried to explain that we had talked to the last guy about it, he said that he doesn't speak English and that we still needed to pay. We promptly refused and both he and I got quite upset. Dishonest, dangerous and overall bad.

The colonial building is charming, but not maintained well at all. We had to see 3 different rooms before finding one with  (almost) no mold in the walls. Mold seems so be a serious problem here!!! We would have cancelled our reservation on the spot and moved to another place hadn't we arrived late and tired. The furniture is very basic. The service was OKish. Breakfast was good, made fresh for us. Wouldn't recommend unless profound renovations are done.

A very basic place that was probably beautiful a long long time ago

This hostel is cheap and is in a nice building with a sunny courtyard and (mostly) friendly staff. 40 Bs for a dormitory bed. Breakfast is included and consists of two bread rolls, a fried egg, dry cereal, the weakest coffee ever and the smallest rations of juice, jam and butter. Toilets don't appear to be cleaned very often, and the cubicles don't lock. Kitchen is okay, but lacks a fridge. WiFi is so poor it might as well not be there. No security whatsoever for dormitory rooms. Mattresses and pillows are rock hard, and there aren't quite enough blankets to be comfortably warm at night. Only 3 beds were ready for us when we checked into an empty 8 bed dorm room at 10:30, which was slightly odd, but fine. It stayed like that for 2 nights whilst we had the room to ourselves, but on the last night, one inconsiderate staff member decided 5:30am was a good time to come into our room, turn the lights on and make the beds for 4 arriving guests (all without an apology). We are completely bewildered as to why the beds weren't made three days previously, ready for any guests.

You should probably look elsewhere

This is ok but that's about it. I arrived with a friend early around 6-7am. We were not allowed into dorm room until 11-12 despite the fact there was only 1 other person in the dorm. That is just stupid, there is no reason why we couldn't be allowed into the beds a bit early. That's just bad customer service.
It's quite a big complex and only 2-3 other people stayed there so it felt quite empty.  There is a free breakfast which is decent and a limited kitchen.
There is wi-fi but it's so bad most of the time it didn't work. This isn't that unusual in Bolivia but I stayed at a nearby place as well and it is a lot better.
Nothing here is awful but it could be a lot better with some proactive management.

Ok, better places to stay in Sucre

There are very few pros to this hostel. The location is fine (about 10 minute walk to the main square) and the room was clean. 
The cons however are many. The man at reception on arrival was extremely rude and abrupt. We felt like we were putting him out by checking in. 
The room was fine but had net curtains as opposed to proper curtains so everyone could see in when the lights were on. It also made the room very bright at night time. 
The toilets are clean but none of the doors lock properly, one does if you play around with the lock a bit. 
The showers that are beside the toilets are not actually the ones you use. The shower that we had to use was in a disused bedroom full of unused mattresses. The door to the bedroom didn't lock, you had to put a book shelf up behind it to keep it closed. The bathroom door also didn't lock. The shower was filthy, dirt everywhere and clumps of hair blocking the drain. 
The WiFi was only available to us in the reception area because we were not staying in a room with private bathroom (no one else was either but they still would not give us the password). The WiFi was very slow also at reception. 
The kitchen has no fridge to store food. Plates, cups etc. are quite old and used looking. 
Would not recommend staying in Sucre. There are definitely better options. 

Do not stay here! 

On first sight this hostel looks really nice. It is located in a huge beautiful colonial building with a nice patio. But this is really destroyed by the people running that hostel! When we wanted to prepare some breakfast in the kitchen on our arrival day, we realized that there were not enough kitchen utensils and cutlery and those present were incredibly dirty and moldy. When we asked for at least 4 plates, cups and cutlery the hostel lady told us that we can use only the stuff which is provided in one cupboard - we could find only 2 acceptable cups and 2 plates which did not fall apart or were disgusting (please look at the pictures uploaded). Only after insisting, we were provided some clean plastic plates and cups which were taken away by the hotel staff directly after finishing our breakfast and cleaning the dishes. As we wanted to cook dinner on the same day, we needed to ask again for clean plates and cutlery. We were again told that we can only use the stuff provided, this time by another guy working at the hostel who was super unfriendly and even shouted at me saying that we are only paying for rooms with shared bathrooms. If we had paid for the nicer rooms including a kitchen we could use nicer kitchen utensils. After complaining towards his boss and actually pointing at the broken and dirty dishes again, we were provided only reluctantly some clean dishes. 
Well, the next morning the same lady from the first day did not apologize (we would have expected that) but emphasized that we are not allowed to use any other dishes than those which are provided and that we need to accept that fact. She said that it is not her fault that people leave the dishes dirty and even blamed us having not cleaned our dishes which was a bad lie! She had no interest at all in apologizing and did not understand anything. She was just blaming other people and said it was not the hostels employees job to clean after visitors. She did not reply to any of my concerns, e.g there were only 3 usable cups, maybe 2 usable plates. On the first day we were only 5 and still treated that bad- well we were not surprised that not many people were staying at that place after we experienced the bad service. 

I wish we could have left the place on the same day but hostels are packed in Sucre due to the transportation strike. This is really bad customer service and the good things that the hostel provides (nice outdoor area, only one but at least a hot shower) are by fare outweighed by this worst ever customer service and rudeness!
I would never stay at this hostel voluntarily again as the hostel atmosphere is totally ruined. To be fair, if you do not care about a clean kitchen, little things like being able to have a cup of tea/coffee and after all hospitality, you may certainly stay at that place. Just bear in mind that wifi is really slow (could not even download emails) and there is only one shower which might get a problem if more people are staying at that place.
