we were going to stay in another hostel where a friend was staying, but the private rooms were expensive so we found Hostel Isidoro. We negotiated a good price for our room.  The rooms are fine, comfy beds, a little tv, good wifi. The staff are very nice.  I think there is a continental breakfast included, but never used it.  There is a kitchen you can use, so we made our own breakfasts (and suppers when we were in the for the night).  The bathrooms are shared but clean...one drawback was the hot water, I found my showers either scalding hot or cold, seemed to change by the second.  My friend found the showers fine, maybe I am not smart enough to use them properly.  We used this place as our base in La Paz and were happy.  Right by the bus station, a quick stroll to the centre of town.  It gets cold in the evening/nightime so the bedding was great (lots of blankets).  If you are looking for a decent, economic place to stay I would recommend this place.  The only drawback I found was the showers and that seemed to be more my fault as others had no complaints.  Happy travels.

nice and cheap

Indeed average on some things and good on others. My plane to La Paz landed at 1:22 am so by the time I got to the Hostal it was past 2 o'clock in the morning. Here I am knocking on the door all by myself, as the taxi driver dropped me off and left, in the dark night of the city. A woman finally comes to the door and I explain that I have a reservation. She looked me up as if I was a killer and left. I knock again and so she comes again . . . I explain again with a little more punch this time and she opens the door. I get a temporary room as she doesn't know what to do with me . . . The next day I meet the manager whom I explain what happenned and told him about the reservation and he tells me that in la Paz, you never know what can happen so we don't open when it is late. Yeah right and what can happen can happen to me too . . . 
The hostal was OK, not a luxurious one at all but OK. I would say a very basic one. Then as I was to stay in la Paz for some 5 or 6 days, I intended to look for another place but finally I stayedat Isidoro's. They tried to make it up to me for what my situation had been. They even booked some tours and found me some good deals on them. So the experience did not start so nicely but it ended OK. The place is quite inexpensive and they try to help the people the best they can. If you go there don't expect too much but they won't rip you off and will do their best.

Location was great it was just in front of the bus station, bathroom was clean and hot shower is possible, room was a bit cold but considering its price, it was okay. The employee and the host was very kind. I left my huge baggage in the reception for three days of tour for Amazon they allowed me to do it. Also, I lost a small bag during the trip from Rurrenabaque to La Paz and the host called the bus company and helped me to find the bag. Thanks to him I could find it!

This hostel is a 15 walk away from the town centre and the tourist areas and isolated on it's own in a pretty grotty part of La Paz.

I stayed here because there was nothing else on New Years eve. It's close to the bus station but a taxi there from town is only $3 USD anyway so it's no real advantage. The hostel has a gloomy feel, there's no decent communal area and the staff only speak Spanish as far as I can determine.

There are hostels in cheerier parts of town. I moved to the Ananay which sits on a delightful cobble stone alley, which is also La Paz's oldest street.

Not a proper travellers hostel

The only feature that values the price per night (30 Bs. last year). As for the rest I got a room which was spacious, however the bathroom was shared and small. I was supposed to stay 1 Month and paid in advance to the owner, reaching to an agreement verbally, yet I said I needed a Contract or a Receipt, which he said he'll do, however, he never did. The room had a TV a decent bed and during the first days of my stay the maids will clean my room, but that stopped happening on the first week. The area was very cold and you had access to the WiFi until 23:00. during the morning they'd turn on the WiFi around 08:00. So you can imagin how limited all guests were. I tried their breakfast once and didn't like it. The bread was from the day before, the coffee wasn't hot. Briefing it: It's a disappointment. Well, as I said in the title, Near to the bus station. The only good thing that Isidoro's Hostel brought me was that experience that I'll never want to repeat.
