Special Energy in this ecologically responsible lodging.  The owners pride themselves on organic produce and farm-sourced meals.  The views of the cloud forest from  the terrace are breathtaking.  All the details are attended to here.  I felt very cared for.  Stay here if you enjoy peace of mind.

Special Energy

Had a lovely time at the Ecolodge, it's a magical place.  Just the right mix of luxury and home comforts.  We were greeted with cups of lemon verbena tea and fruits/veg grown in the garden.  Kitchen staff is friendly and attentive, make sure to tell them that you like to eat spicy food and you'll be treated to the most delicious of homegrown chilis!  Amazing and dramatic views of the Fort from the balcony, and there are many interesting day trips to be taken less than 30 minutes drive from the lodge.  Highly recommend!

Hilltop refuge

I have missed this place since the moment we left. Had I had it my way, I would have extended my stay. Stay here when you come, it will set the tone for an unforgettable trip. 

After a timely airport pickup, our expert and friendly driver took us to the lodge. A long and beautiful drive through the mountains, punctuated by a tea stop in a circular lodge enveloped by clouds, culminated with the arrival to this most spectacular location. 

The lodge's layout is brilliant, all rooms are equally spacious and elegant, and have a beautiful large balcony with a view to the valley, the river and the fort. Make an effort for an early morning - the clouds rising from the mountains are a sight to behold. 

Slept soundly enveloped by silence on a very comfortable bed with deliciously soft bedding; appreciated the cleanliness, the big airy bathroom, thoughtful lighting and a cute little booth table.  

The staff, caring and friendly, crafts incredible meals out of home-grown ingredients. Served in a cozy, plant filled dining room or al fresco, they nourish body and soul after days of hiking and exploring all there is to see. 

A bargain for the price, do come with a loose agenda, you might want to reconsider your plans! Can't recommend enough. 

Nourished body and soul! 

The Ecolodge is a special place that I could not recommend enough. It was easy to make a tour arrangements through the lodge in advance, and our wonderful driver picked us up from the airport upon landing in Bhutan. After a long but beautiful drive through the mountains, we arrived at the lodge that evening to a spectacular room—beautifully furnished, clean, quiet, large, with a view of the valley and fort. What a perfect spot to land!

Unfortunately—and unrelated to the lodge—I came down with a 24-hour flu that night. Even though I was bedridden for an entire day, the incredible staff at the lodge checked in on me, brought me hot drinks, a variety of foods (in an effort to feed me), and generally went out of their way to ensure I was comfortable and recovering. Their kindness and attention made a real difference, and even though it was horrible to be sick, turns out the Ecolodge is also the perfect spot to convalesce :) 

This spot is a real gem, and by far the nicest place I stayed during my travels in Bhutan. The food (once I was well enough to eat) was delicious, the grounds beautifully maintained, the location serene and scenic. For the price, it is a bargain too. Stay here!


Exceptional Stay!

I stayed in Ecolodge in Wangdue in August 2002. The journey to Wangdue was amazing but I was just so thrilled when I reached Ecolodge. 

The lodge itself is overlooking the Wangdue Dzong, you get the privilege to get a view of it from every corner of the lodge.

The lodge was built in traditional Bhutanese fashion, the ornaments, furniture, decorations as well as paintings on the buildings are another point to be amazed.

Not only room was so spacious and comfortable that no need to mention it at all, food was also a ‘Cannot miss’ so was a ‘Must have’ thing. Kezang, the hotel manager and his family grow vegetables and fruits around the lodge, he uses only seasonal homegrown ingredients to prepare meals. I must say that he and his wife must be the best chefs in Bhutan 😊

After staying in Ecolodge for two days, I move to the eastern side of Bhutan but since I missed Kezang’s food as well as the beauty that Ecolodge provided, I returned back and stayed there for another four nights.

Beautiful little birds woke me up each morning, and I so much loved having breakfast whilst overlooking the Dzong. 

What a place! It truly is a ‘Must stay’ if you are traveling to Bhutan.

ECOLODGE in WANGDUE, The 'MUST STAY PLACE' in BHUTAN !!!

We were very much happy and delighted with the services provided to us by the wonderful staffs,the rooms were comfortable and cozy. One of my highlight of the stay was the bird chirping at my window in the morning and to see the picturesque view of the wangdue donzg from the lodge.

Me and my German guests spend two nights at this lodge and it was truly wonderful 

Fantastic stay at Wangdue Eco Lodge. Spectacular views of the dzong and valley. Huge room and bathroom. The manager Kelzang and his family were so welcoming, and cooked delicious food grown right on the property.

Room with a view!

Amazing view, wonderful & helpful staff. The food there was the best we had in the2 weeks we spend in BHUTAN.  The rooms were large, the bathroom in stone & shower hot. The only comment we made to management was that the bedrooms needed at least 1 brighter light for reading. Overall, 1 of the best places we stayed in & that included the 5 star Forest Hotel. Not to forget that a lot of there vegetables came from their own garden & being vegan that meant a lot!

Wonderful stay & highly recommend 

Amazing experience at Wangdue Eco Lodge. We stayed for 2 nights. The staff are friendly and helpful. Dinner are served with all ingredients from their garden. The lodge in the hilltop look over the Wangdue Dzong so prepare for the gorgeous view!

Lovely experience

We had three days while we explored the surrounding area, hiking, rafting, enjoying temples etc.  The family were friendly, some initially shy, and very good company.  The sitting. / dining area was lovely and the food was excellent.  Highly recommended. -would happily return.
