Started out a 2 week trip in Benin at the Hotel du Lac in Cotonou. The rooms were very large, well maintained, and clean. The staff was very helpful throughout. We arrived on the Air France flight and the hotel called us to asked what we would like for dinner when we landed and had it ready for us upon arriving at the hotel. 

The breakfast was a very delicious, varied buffet with all sorts of breads, pastries, cereals, meats, cheeses, an omelette station, etc. My travel companion and I left breakfast very content and it set the bar for all others hotels on our 2 week trip! 

Definitely recommend this place for nice stay in Cotonou on the water. 

Great hotel experience with strong service

Nicely located on the channel linking lake and ocean, this is one of the best options in Cotonou being only aten minute drive from the airport. The rooms are fairly small but comfortable. On the 4th floor the terrace [provides a nice view of the sea.
The main attraction is the well maintained swimming pool with adjacent veranda dining while being cooled by the ocean breeze.
Reccomended.

Relaxing and comfortable

When I arrived the room that I was assigned was number 01, the one near the lobby and by the side of the TV. I've rejected the room because of the noise, so I was accomodated in a room in the underground floor. I only slept there one night. These rooms are under the restaurant, so you can hear all the time how the tables and chairs are moved. The following day I was moved to a further room, also in the underground, that was not below the restaurant.
These rooms lead to the sea, and you can see fishermen in front of your window, looking for fish that stick to the walls of the hotel. They pass even in the night so I was forced to have the curtains all the time closed. This had an impact in the internet signal.
I've found two times in the morning a dead cockroach in the floor. Doors don't isolate noises, so when the cleaners come in the morning you can hear them perfectly well, also when they are called by the stricking phone that is in the corridor. 
In the underground, be prepared to lift the heavy bags through the stairs. The passage that lead to the rooms can be full of water when it rains. This entrance leads also to the swimming pool area, that is open to public and security is not so strict on seeing which people is entering and coming out.
If you want to take a breakfast, you can have the complete option for 5,500 (9 euros), or a continental breakfast for 4,500 (7 euros), or only a coffe with milk for 4 euros!! 


Small details can make the difference

I always marvel at the efforts to improve constantly. This is a great place for the business traveler. Room is spacious, very clean and Wi-Fi is stable and strong. .Meals are affordable and with a good variety. A cafe has been added which is really nice.  There. are fresh flowers decorations in strategic points which adds to the peaceful atmosphere.

A gem in Cotonou

Our first time in Benin (Cotonou) and we only had a few days.  The Hotel du Lac was PERFECT!  Air conditioned rooms, hot showers, comfortable and clean beds, beautiful views of the ocean in the distance and river.  The food was fantastic!  Try the chicken curry.  I travel a lot and all over the world...I did not expect it to be this comfortable and nice.  The staff were very helpful, even when we needed multiple rides to the airport for check-in.  Well done!  I will stay here again - you should too!

Comfortable 3 night stay - amazing views and Airport shuttle!

Basic 3 star hotel but with many extras. The room was very large and comfortable for a family of 4. They have an amazing playground which our kids spent hours enjoying. The pool is very nice. Great breakfast buffet. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Nice views and large terrace to enjoy them. The hotel also has its own boats to do tours of Ganvie which is a 1 minute walk to the dock. Would recommend.

Good hotel with great facilities

Had to quickly find somewhere to stay in Cotonou before moving on to Ouidah and booked this place.Quiet, very clean, great shower with hot water and good breakfast. Very nice view. However, the  shower is way too small and the curtain should be replaced with a door because the shower curtain clings to you when it gets wet. Also they need to offer hand towels and the omelette station should be included in the breakfast.

Short and Sweet

Not modern but not verty old. 
Very nice terrace for dining, good breakfast. Good price quality ratio.

Ok to stay for business

Excellent hotel, we had a wonderful stay with the helpful staff and fine restaurants. We spent four nights exploring the small towns on the lake as well as the beautiful villas. The room was clean and with a great view of the lake  just above where the ferry docs, the breakfast room was excellent and the open view of the lake couldn’t be better. We paid for the parking in their parking garage which was excellent and if we would have planned better should have left vehicle in Milan since we didn’t need it. We can confidently recommend this hotels personal attention to detail and helpful staff. The location is perfect and we would love to return.

Trip to Northern Italy

I did tour in benin and this was the best hotel i had, great room, nice service.
breakfast is fabulous and delicious. great vue from terras at the lake .
Inside you dont hear the noise off the busy city
